Uruguayan journalist quoting Suarez on Twitter tonight... Apparently he's signing a new deal. Hmph.

    Tremors in the force.

He wouldn't sign a new deal, he had three years left. Hmmm. Yess.

Why would he sign a new deal, when he's trying to get out of the one he's already got ?

Doesn't make sense, unless Liverpool in their desperation are going to bankrupt the club to keep him.

Luis Suarez to Uruguayan media: "For now, due to all of the people's affection, I will be staying [at #LFC]"

What a knob, it's like a soap opera

To paraphrase 'For now, due to the club holding me hostage, I will be staying. But as soon as that **** Rodgers lowers his guard, I'm out of here ....'

It could be a deal to put in a contract clause like "no champions league qualification this season and the player can leave for 40 million".

Something like that might work for both team and player. Suarez would get permission to leave after 1 more season, while Liverpool have a year to find a replacement with a guaranteed wad of cash... or they can keep him if no offers come in.

He said he would not field questions on his future while in Uruguay and banned the media...

The Uruguayan journalist that broke this "story" also said Suarez to Arsenal was almost done, about 2 weeks ago.

Yep a new contract will undoubtedly hae a real clause this time. Won't be £40mil though. Will be up to £50/55 I reckon. Unless Guardiola messes up again <laugh>

Interesting to see how the fans react to him - it's one thing to defend a player to the hilt for bad behaviour but when he allegedly disrespects the club that's a different issue altogether,.

He's undoubtedly burned his bridges with many fans. Myself included. Can't and won't believe a word of his apology.

He's probably got a wage increase and a shiny new release clause. But we have a year to replace him. Hopefully we do it now effectively or in January.

IF true... who do Arsenal go for? You need a DM, a CB and a RB more than a ST anyway.

Tbh He disrespected the club more when he bit Ivanovic after all the ****e he dragged us through with Evra. Being a whiney bitch to the media is no less than I would have expected.

Fans are fickle though, if Suarez starts banging them in again most of us will forget. Just like you and Spuds forget that SUarez is a ****, but still want him to play for you

i would agree but there still seem to be a fair few United fans who never entirely forgave rooney. Oh and i can assure you categorically suarez will never ever wear the shirt of my club so it's irrelevant to me <laugh>

The luxury of success and options they had... so they don't have to reconcile.

    Reported on the BBC now:

    0953:

    PREMIER LEAGUE COUNTDOWN

More on that report in Uruguayan newspaper El Observador which claims striker Luis Suarez has decided to stay at Liverpool.

The report goes on to suggest the 26-year-old may even sign a new deal at Anfield, which would represent a remarkable turnaround from a week ago.

Then, in interviews with the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph, Suarez said: "I don't feel betrayed [by Liverpool] but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League."

    0948:
    PREMIER LEAGUE COUNTDOWN

Luis Suarez says he has decided to stay at Liverpool for at least another season., according to Uruguayan newspaper El Observador.

The Uruguayan striker, speaking in Toyko ahead of the international friendly against Japan, appears to have accepted that Liverpool will not sell him to Arsenal this summer.

"For now, because of all the affection of the people, I will be staying," Suarez is quoted as saying.

    A thread closer?

If this is true then the moral of the story is don't bother until you see Arsene with his arm around the player posing for picture in the Emirates.....
