    Willian would be brilliant...

Remember Downing, Carroll, Cole all leaving recently has probably eased the wage bill by around 260k a week... Plus whatever Napoli are paying of Reina's wage - all hopefully.

30 million seems high but it would at least show we mean some business.

Nice thought but can't see it happening. Massive wages we simply won't pay.

even though we have got rid of a lot of players on high wages that dont warrent them Billy.

some fans have used the excuse we are asset stripping etc or wage cutting, what about making room for players who warrent the wages, would show ambition from the owners, also helps keep our key players by bring in quality players. hopefully anyway lol

I'd love Willian to join us - But it makes me wonder why they're willing to let go of someone they bought in January so soon??

On youtube he looks quality (but so do I)....

£30mil and 100K wages - we could afford that I'm sure, after losing some deadwood (however, not sure what his wages are currently, I'm guessing a lot higher than 100K? #greedyfuckers).

Risky, but I'd Risk it for a chocolate biscuit. Plus he's got an afro...

That would sort our minor problem we have on the wings, plus freeing up Coutinho to play central.

Willian and that beast CB/LB Sakho = Good to go (Suarez or not) <ok>

  8. If Anzhi are desperate to cut costs, they may be willing to pay part of his wages

Apparently he earned 2.5 m Euro last season. That's only about 45k a week. I do remember a kick off at the club last season because Eto was on 5 times the rest of the squad

Here's the Guardian article in full...

'Liverpool are poised to make a £30m bid for the Brazilian midfielder Willian as the club's pursuit of a high-profile summer signing goes on.

Willian moved to Anzhi Makhachkala from Shakhtar Donetsk during the last transfer window, also for £30m, having played a key role in helping the Ukrainian club reach the last-16 stage of last season's Champions League. But having played only 17 times for Anzhi in all competitions since, he has been put up for sale, along with the rest of his team-mates, as part of the Russian club's attempt to cut costs.

The 25-year-old, who has two caps, is predominately a left-sided player but can play on either flank or in a more advanced attacking position.

Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, is keen to sign a creative player and is believed to have targeted Willian having been frustrated earlier in the summer when the No1 target Henrikh Mkhitaryan turned down the chance to move from Shakhtar and instead opted to join Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund.

Willian would represent the type of big-statement signing Rodgers is keen to secure before the close of the transfer window having spent around £24m on Kolo Touré, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto.

The purchase could also help Rodgers in his attempts to persuade Luis Suárez to remain at Liverpool after the Uruguayan publicly stating to the Guardian last week his desire to leave the club. Liverpool's principal owner, John W Henry, reacted by stating the player would not be allowed to move on but such an outcome remains far from guaranteed.'

Willian, Sahko and Siqueira. They would be three massive signings, though I doubt we'll sign Willian, purely because I'm sure other teams will be sniffing around. But, I'd be very happy with that especially if there were no more out goings. I feel all three of them would come straight in to the starting eleven.

Would be a very good signing - I feel £30m is a lot though. Fits the profile perfectly - pace, trickery, scores goals, creates, plays on either flank.

Also, Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Costa has extended his contract.

Their owner Suleyman Kerimov is keen to make immediate cutbacks. Reports say that he's now unhappy with the current business model and wants to put something longer term in place, apparently he's also unhappy with results and the attitude of a few players. On top of that Kerimov's potash company Uralkali has apparently lost £5.5bn recently (losing £325m himself) and there's speculation that he's also not well.

The Anzhi backer has decided he's not funding the big spending any more, transfers ans wages. So they put the entire squad up for sale.

He would be good for us yeah but have to agree with Magic that we'll find it difficult to persuade him to come because of CL sides, same as both Costa and Mhk, Mkh, ah forget it. This is one of the main problems being where we are in the league.

Him being £30million is the only thing that means we might stand a chance of getting him. THe only clubs willing to spend that have already made their big signings, and I doubt Spurs will sign such an expensive winger whilst the Bale transfer is still up in the air. Willian for £20-25m is certainly more palatable but then a host of other clubs will start sniffing around. He's far better than Costa too, and we were prepared to spend just £5mil less on him
