If he can't get a move to Saudi Arabia then I don't see us going for him now. I think any other striker coming in would be a loan, no idea who though, probably would be someone who doesn't make someone else's squad. Again though SB came out today saying strikers aren't on the list, but I suppose if someone became available then a move could be made.
I just don't think Bruce is looking in that direction at the moment....... its midfield, midfield, midfield.
We have Graham on loan. If Livermore comes in too that's the loan spots filled so it would either be a transfer or nothing.
Bruce has already said he feels we are ok in the striker department so I do not think we will be getting in any others this transfer window, even to stop our rivals.
I thought it was 4 loans? 2 long & 2 short. So any short could become permanent. Same as any long if at some point we decide to turn long loan into permanent. Can't remember for sure though, anyone know?
I'd take him at 1.5 mill. Personally, I think he might be better than any (strikers that is), we've signed so far.
He might be a dirt cheap deadline day offer. WBA would probably be happy to have him off the wage bill and can see him going for 5-800k if anyone even wants him. Buyer is in the driving seat with him now in any case.
He may want to drive himself, after the drive down to QPR in Jan, rather than have the buyer drive him!
Steve Bruce has said on a number of occasions that he has no intention of going after Peter Odemwingie.
As a PL club we can only make long term loans (either til January or til the end of the season)*. We can only have 2 loan players in the squad at any one time. There's a limit on the number of loans you can have in a season, which I think is set at 3 (eg we could have Graham for the season, one player for Aug-Jan and another for Jan-May providing the last two didn't overlap). If you have a player on loan, and then make the transfer permanent then the loan element is ignored. We did that with Gardner in 08/09 as we also had King on loan and wanted to bring in McShane as a 3rd loanee. We just exercised the option we had on Gardner to free up the loan spot. *The usual special dispensation situations surrounding goalkeepers aside. This also only applies to domestic loans. We're still free to sign as many foreign based players on loan as we want on top of Graham and Livermore. Again going back to 08/09, that's why we were able to have King, McShane, and Zayatte.
