It can work the other way. Quinniesta came straight into the team against Bolton around 18 hours after signing, scored a goal and rightly won MOTM.
Better start moving Papa Bruce ! Mackerel Chub-- Dogfish-- Flounder Elver-- Hake-- Ling-- Bream Anchovy-- Grey Mullet-- Shark (Great White) Subs : Perch, Kingfish, Gudgeon, McMackerel,Shark (Hammerhead) , Bass. EDIT: Not too sure who should be in nets though. If rumoured new signings Barracuda & Starfish arrive, they could slot in anywhere in midfield.
I cant see us playing three at the back against Chelsea's front three. McGregor Elmo Chester Davies Figgy Huddlestone Meyler Koren Aluko Graham\Sagbo Brady I think we will go 442 if we dont get the midfielders in; McGregor Rosie Chester Davies Figgy Elmo Meyler Koren Brady Aluko Graham\Sagbo
Bruce has pretty much said we don't need to play 3-5-2 as often this season as we don't need to win as many games. I think he'll go 4-3-3 which will be more like 4-5-1 for games like Chelsea away
With Quinn Out and Elmo missing the Egypt trip due to injury i would go with last saturdays team. Rosie 4 Elmo. Rosie is a far better defender and we shall be doing alot of defending i would suggest. Any new players can sit on the bench for this one. Mike Gregor (as he was called by the germans) Rosenoir Chester Davies Figueroa Meyler Koren(c) Sagbo Aluko Brady Graham Subs: 7 from the rest. Job done.
I would suggest that SB has been using the 4-3-3 formation in pre-season for the Chelsea game actually. It can also be changed to 4-5-1 when defending.
Assuming we get Huddlestone ....... McGregor Rosenior Chester Davies Figueroa Meyler Huddlestone Koren Aluko Proschwitz/Graham Brady
Assuming we get Huddlestone ....... McGregor Rosenior Chester Davies Figueroa Meyler Huddlestone Koren Aluko Proschwitz/Graham Brady Actually, in retrospect, I might even consider Dudgeon on the left in place of Koren. In any case, virtually all the line-ups suggested in this thread leave a pretty strong bench.
The bench could be alot stronger if TH and JL sign for us this week. It would be madness to start them though in this game imo.
Are we really considering Dudgeon, a left back who hasn't played competitively for nearly a year, to play in a three man midfield?
Exactly. IF Huddlestone is in the building, why on earth would he not start when we have no one else at the club capable of filling that role? If we are fortunate enough to sign the two Spurs lads, I can see Livermore making his debut from the bench, with Huddlestone anchoring the midfield alongside Meyler and Koren. Livermore would likely make the starting XI the following week.
I think it'll be: McGregor Rosenior Davies Chester Figueroa Elmo Huddlestone Meyler Brady Aluko Graham Subs: Harper, McShane, Koren, Dudgeon, Boyd, Livermore, Sagbo
