<laugh>, my scholes point was when Rooney asked to leave for the first time, our legend did a 'job' on him.

You have to remember that Rooney's fitness issue last week was a shoulder injury, nothing to do with his legs and stamina which is why he trained with the reserves in a non-contact role.

There's no way Hodgson would know if he did or didn't have a shoulder injury last week and there's nothing in his comment that says he didn't. Rooney has been fit barring his shoulder, which didn't stop him from training.

I agree that it's likely that he's being excluded from the first team for "other" reasons at present but I don't think what Hodgson said really contradicts what Moyes said. A shoulder injury asting a few days isn't going to make a player that is still training albeit in a non-contact capacity, suddenly unfit. The comment that Rooney has been fit for days therefore is accurate but at the same time doesn't mean that Rooney absolutely didn't have a shoulder injury. Hey may have done, hey may well not have that injury either, we don't categorically know we can just use our best judgment to come to the conclusion that it also makes sense to keep an unhappy player away from the first team.

I'm not arsed either way now.

I'd like him to stay as he's a good player and we're a better team with him but at the same time I'm not overlly bothered if he goes as he's a twat.

I am not arsed whether he plays for us or not. What I am arsed about is him playing for the f**king chavs and the PR triumph that this will provide to them and Maureen. Let him rot in the reserves if he does not want to play for us. He has yet to burn his bridges with Moyes and the team. Let's see what happens. The cost to us of his going to the chavs will be more than the money we will lose by letting him rot in the reserves.

I'm increasingly with Eric on this one. Stuff him. If Chelsea really want him come up with a huge offer that Utd cannot refuse. Remember Rooney while a good player who on his day enhances our team; if we're being honest he hasn't lived up to his promise/hype for a few seasons now. We could be letting him go to Chelsea which could seal the title and haunt us, or he'd be another Torres. A total waste of money.

    This.

No matter what BS Mourinho may try to feed his army of arse kissers now, Chelsea were in for Cavani, Falcao and Hulk and were snubbed by them all. They need a striker and he knows it.

He can go anywhere he wants as long as it's not Chelsea or City. Wouldn't even mind him going to Arsenal - he'd probably help them take points of Chelsea and City and win us the league ;)

Manchester United have taken the top-level decision that Wayne Rooney will not be sold to Chelsea no matter how much money is offered or whatever the potential risks of keeping an unhappy player. Their stance is irreversible and will represent a significant setback for José Mourinho, who had been under the impression a deal to take him to Stamford Bridge was only a matter of time.

What's he going to do if United refuse to sell him? Sulk, get fat and have another crap World Cup or remove his head from his arse, put a shift in, win another league title and have another crap World Cup?

Up yours Maureen. <laugh> even money grabbing glazers must realise that selling fat Roon at ANY price to the Chavs will downgrade United as a brand all over the world. In the longer run, may cost them hundreds of millions. How can you consider yourself among the biggest teams in the world if you have to let one of your players go to a team like the Chavs ? Better to show your resolve and let him rot in the reserves and write off £40-50m <ok>

Good stuff (if true of course). One of the benefits of having the Glazers as owners - they've never (thus far) second guessed the manager and bought or sold players, a la Shevchenko and Torres, without him leading the deal. If they continue to pursue the same stance with Moyes in charge, that will definitely help us have a smooth transition and earn more success in the future.

Also interesting in that article to see it stated again that we weren't convinced by Thiago, and never entered into full negotiations, and support for the rumour that Fabregas still isn't convinced at Barca and only made his public statement about wanting to stay after Barca refused to sell.

Chelsea hope to sign a striker in next few days, may have all but given up on Rooney. Eto'o a serious option. #cfc #mufc

That would be hilarious in light of what Jose said about new signings.
