Apparently interested in Willian from Anzhi. They are looking to get rid as the owner cuts back the massive spending and wages. Would play in one of the wide positions, something BR has said we are looking to strengthen and would allow Coutinho to play more central. Has decent pace and is able to take on a player. Would have thought a host of CL clubs would be interested if he was available though and he'd prob cost £20-£25mil along with huge wages which could be a stumbling block.
Would be an amazing signing but I imagine would be on massive wages, and I think he'll cost more than 20-25m too, more like 30m, think I even saw £35m mentioned somewhere. Would be amazing if we can pull it off, but like you said, other teams who are in the CL are bound to be interested so that makes our chances of getting him very slim.
Fact they are desperate to sell (Eto'o also being linked to Chelsea) might be able to get him cheaper. He originally went for 35mil Euros so maybe up towards £30mil would see them recoup what they paid if not.
This is now the problem with buying from the 'new' money Russian clubs. The massive wages players have become accustomed to, they're not going to want to take dramatic pay cuts.
That could be a possibility, but I still think we'd have trouble attracting him and I'd we did, we'd then have further trouble with his wages.
Exactly mate, but surely he's smart enough to realise that not every club are willing to pay those crazy wages and that taking a pay cut may be the best option. Or City or the Chavs just swoop in, offer him what he wants and then we miss out.
