Why are the media surprised at the reception we are giving Knockaert?

Do they just assume it would be the same scenario as Kermorgant? Even though the two situations are totally different?

Was it someone on this forum who suggested he hasn't started yet this season because it was unsure what kind of reception he would receive? (I read it somewhere, can't remember...)

I am surprised we didn't give him a start against Wycombe seeing as he didn't against 'Boro. And then also thought he would start against Leeds. But what do I know!?

I think Nige was trying to ease him back into the team.

Knocky is loved by the fans here. He is the difference from us having a good team to a very good team

He is the key to promotion

... one of .. him and Dyer both have the ability to go past people and you need more than one player who can do that in a team ... but Wes and Kaspar also will be key, as will a goalscorer ... Wood had a good cameo against Leeds (first touch still a bit dodgy) and was unlucky not to score - still think Vardy will score if we can create chances (and threin lies the rub - CREATIVITY) ...

There is very little creativity in the starting line up against Leeds

Our creative players are Knockaert, Marshall and Dyer. Them 3 try to make things happen

It's true that, Sky were talking about him like he was public enemy No. 1 in Leicester. Far from it. He's one of our greatest prospects. We should remember that we would unlikely have been in a position to miss a penalty in the play-offs if it wasn't for Knocky in the first place!

Kermorgant- done **** all over the season, stupid showoff penalty, didnt quite understand what he had done. Showed very little to the fans before or after the peno

Knockaert- great for the majority of the season, won the peno, wasnt the greatest peno ever but you have to credit the keeper, clearly you could see how much it meant to him and he has a great rapport with the fans

I think that's a bit unbalanced Proud ... Kermorgant was given very few first team opportunities (particularly starting ones) ... just because he didn't blub like Knocky when he missed the penalty doesn't necessarily mean it hurt him any less ... they both missed because they chose the wrong option - simple. kermorgant would have been vaunted for his incredible belief and nerve if his had gone in (many have scored with such). Fans were willing to forgive Knocky because of the type of player he is - an exciting prospect. In my view our fans were pretty disingenuous to Kermorgant - he became the scapegoat for our failure to beat Cardiff on one (immensely pressured) penalty kick -I still question why we ever played the home leg with only one up front - the inexperienced Waggy.

Knockys blub looked fake to me, as if he was covering the bases for the sake of it, but his goals had got us to that game in the first place.

Agree with Kermo, didn't do anything during the season and took a poor poor penalty, it was a hero or zero moment, whereas Knocky had already settled into the hero role with his play and goals.

One thing i think we can agree on, French players should not be taking penalties!

Neither should English players! We should sign a German for penalty taking!

    Wasn;t Howard and Fryatt suspended/injured?

Can't remember if we'd sent James Vaughan back before that or not.

Kermorgant was **** for us simple as. When he did play he was completely unanimous

As for him not understanding what he done just read this

    http://www.thisisleicestershire.co....tory-12090983-detail/story.html#axzz2bsVUHQkX

Its up to him to have confidence in himself. For us he looked lost on a football pitch. At Charlton he has done very well though

It wasnt the fact he missed that got everyones back up. It was how he missed and his reaction afterwards.

Based on nothing other then his Leicester career if you can show me anyone who thinks Kermorgant is a good player then I will show you a liar.

That year Waghorn was superb for us. Its a shame he has never managed to push on from there. Matty Fryatt start the season very well but his a barren run then hit Brain Stock's elbow. Steve Howard ended the season well before stupidly decideding to 2 foot a Watford player and getting sent off. He was brillaintly in the play off game at Cardiff for us.

Yann Kermorgant other then a very decent goal against Middlesbrough he showed us nothing of note in a Leicester shirt. It didnt work for him here for 1 reason or another. He isnt the first or last striker to struggle here and go elsewhere and do well

And even funnier is a league 1 striker Kevin Doyle turning down the mighty Hull City Tigers <laugh>

At this rate you will be relying on Matty Fryatt to keep you in the prem <laugh>

The best thing about Kermogant is the song! Was worth him missing that penalty just for that. Another striker that was played out of position though. I wish him well.

Proud - I'm not known for being a liar - but I have stated on numerous threads that Kermorgant was the best technical footballer that we had at the club amongst our strikers at that time - all he lacked was match practice / fitness. For me he should have started against Cardiff in that first leg, either with Waggy (given that we were at home) or as the loan striker - he certainly would have held the ball up far better than the inexperienced Waggy who frankly was anonymous that afternoon as he was effectively 'bullied' out of it by their central defenders and our tactic of continually pumping the ball in his general direction despite it being obvious that he couldn't cope.

He was clearly a good player, just he wasn't going to get chances ahead of Howard who was our preferred targetman.

Shame it didn't work out because he's scoring goal after goal for Charlton. Technically very good goals as well. The type of goals Gallagher scores, but Kermit can actually control the ball and hold it up.
