I can't imagine osvaldo coming to southampton unless we were the only club in for him. Perhaps we are. If we do get them I think the circumstances of his arrival, i.e. being forced out won't cause him to sulk, but might affect his motivation. It's possible that he will be deflated playing for a worse team but I would hope that he will be striving to prove his worth to the italian team and make Roma jealous of what a talent they let go.

He would be a truly brilliant signing for us, but we will be reliant on Roma's stupidity and the apprehension of a lot of clubs.

Couple of things:

1. We're pretty sure there are other clubs in for him, but Fulham and Wolfsburg can't really offer him anything that we can't.

2. Whether it would be stupid of Roma or not, they've already decided they want to sell.

The up-front is fine, but if he's still on the £70k p/w that Liverpool was reportedly paying, they're on the hook for more than £10m in wages over the three-year deal.

Another old one resurfacing....

http://www.calcionewstime.com/calciomercato-juvnetus-sorensen-verso-il-southampton/

He seems to have found accommodation, Frederik Sorensen . The defender of Juventus , or rather jointly owned between the above team and Bologna , would be in the crosshairs of the strong Southampton . The British in fact, as reported by the BBC , it would be ready for a strong investment in order to withdraw the central and enlist him in their ranks. In addition, the club of the channel seems much more confident in carrying out the operation with respect to the Zenit Spalletti, which is also affected in recent days to Danish player.

Frederik Sorensen could arrive in the Premier League this market session. The hypothesis prevails over the English in Russia. According to "La Gazzetta dello Sport," the Southampton would be in pole position to secure the Danish defender, co-owned between Juventus and Bologna and also treated by Spalletti's Zenit St. Petersburg.

Cortese was not present at the friendly on Saturday (I believe)...quite strange with Real Sociedad as guests. Of course, he could have had a tummy bug (though not sure any bacteria would dare).

Saint_Swede - The world needs a bit of Rick. Plus I'm fed up of endless boners over Osvaldo.

Actual rumors, Sorenson can play RB too, would probably prefer a CB who can play LB.
Whatever happens it looks like Osvaldo will have a decision to make after the internationals

I know it was just a few hopeful murmurings in here, but it looks like Toby Alderweireld is going to Spartak Moscow

[h=3]Southampton are set to make a second offer for Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo in the hope of bringing the Italian international to Saint Mary’s.[/h] The Daily Star report that Southampton, who have already had one bid rejected for the 26-year-old, are lining up an £8million second offer. Osvaldo was unhappy with the personal terms of the first offer but the source understands the two parties are in talks over a possible deal. The Daily Star believes Fulham and Wolfsburg are also in for the Italian star but Southampton are the only club to make an official bid. Osvaldo was born in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires but moved to Italy in 2006 and was granted Italian citizenship because his great-grandfather was born in Italy. He has since gone on to make eight appearances for the Italian national team, scoring twice against Bulgaria and once against Armenia in 2012. The striker has spent two seasons at Roma, scoring an impressive 28 goals in 57 appearances.

The more on the mark Italian websites have the bid accepted at around £17m so that's pure bullshit from the Star
