Quite possibly. In the election system for the president that they have at Real, Perez's rep for always getting his man counts for a lot. He can't just come out and say, "I've failed" that won't look good at all. So yes, he's now possibly putting the slant on it that we have all these promising young players, Spurs were asking crazy money for this player. Etc, etc. Put the spotlight on what they have, which includes his current insistence that Ronaldo will be at Real for the rest of his career.

    You did indeed! :)

P.S Just noticed you're a Rochester lad. My old stomping grounds were Maidstone & Canterbury. Small world.

I am indeed, like Canterbury very much and Maidstone is good for shopping. How long you been away, Maidstone is much changed in the last few years?

  10. Yesterday, I voted "no" but today, if I had the chance to vote again, I'd vote "yes."

Arrrggggggggg! Please, someone - anyone - end this misery!

I left Maidstone in 2000 for Canterbury, it was going south fast. Just stand at the top of Gabriel's Hill around 11.30pm on a Friday night and that's all you need to know! I defected to Florida a few years ago but plan to head back to Canterbury early next year. I miss the 'normality' of Europe!

This is the first day in a while where i haven't changed my mind from the previous day. Yesterday i thought he was staying and today i think he is staying. This can only mean 1 thing..........he's going.

We would have been in canterbury at the same time. I was there 2000-2003 and quite a lot of 2004 too.

Strange that is posted today as i'm sure he said it a bit ago. Today he said something that wasn't anti-spurs/pro-madrid/pro-transfer at all. I can't remember where i saw it.

Edit - Found it, bbc sports day:
"Looking at his history over the last two or three weeks his workload has not been good at all."
"So for him to go into an international against a tough team like Ireland would be dangerous. We respect Tottenham and have a good relationship with them and we decided before he got here that it was too much of a risk."

"The problem isn't whether Bale can handle it, it's whether Madrid even have the money which is looking unlikely, Levy won't sell him for instalments."

    <ok>

Some person (calling himself "Joy") has made a snide comment, referring to us as "spuds." As I have only ever heard that term used on this board (and the former 606 board, in its later days) I must assume that it is some twat who posts on the Arsenal board; someone who likes to pretend that they are a woman. Mind you, that could be any of them.

  17. Is it?

I've only ever seen it written on this board, and the other 606 spin-offs.

I've never heard anyone in real life actually use the term.

Perhaps that's because I left school a long time ago?

Well it's certainly used on twitter and I regularly get referred to as a "spud" by my mates. But then again, we do behave like school children! <laugh>

Supposedly Bale has told his Wales team mates that he won't play for Spurs again. I really hate the papers as this story is so likely to be bollocks. So if we don't sell him is he just not going to kick a ball until the next transfer window in January?
I don't know what to think anymore on this. I just want a line drawn under it so we can get on with it. The problem is he is such a valuable asset that the negotiation process will probably take right up until the end of the window.
If he does want to go then we should sell him now and get the money and players sorted ideally before the weekend. Somehow I can't see that happening.

If Bale really felt like that he'd go to the press himself, submit a transfer request etc. He hasn't done any of those things.

Same old news international. Thought they promised to clean up their act...
