I can't vote as I'm on the phone app. I was convinced he would go at the weekend but my position seems to change daily!
He hasn't said anything yet and that is the key to this deal 100%. If the move looks like it will fall through and Bale gets pissed off and starts saying he wants to go then it will be very hard to keep him. I'm hoping he has enough loyalty to the club to not kick up a fuss even if he is very disappointed.
Without Bale we have a good solid team but there is no X factor. Unless we sign a creative midfielder then losing him will seriously affect our chances of the champions league. Keep him and I honestly think we have a chance to mount a title challenge. Cue the WUMs!

I remember when we scored a late winner against his fulham team at the cottage a few years back...it was a headed goal from a free kick...he went mental on the touchline claiming it was clearly offside...when he was interviewed on tv afterwards he accepted that a fulham player had touched the ball onto a spurs player therefore it couldn't have been offside...then complained that even though the linesman was right not to flag for offside and that it was a legit goal it should still have been disallowed as it was really hard to see so the linesman couldn't have been sure ... dick doesn't do his dizzying interlect full justice <laugh>

For anyone interested, and I'm guessing thats a few of us lot, here is a video showing Bale training on his own, doing what looks like some pretty light running with Wales. So the injury/discomfort or whatever you want to call it seems to be legit.

    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/video-gareth-bale-training-dragon-5711117

Also the first comment on the article made me chuckle:

He's training away from the rest of the squad? Does that mean Marca are gonna have an exclusive tomorrow saying this is a clear indication he's quitting Wales?! Oh wow, I've just found the quotes!!!

"You made me a promise. You promised me if we didn't qualify for the World Cup and a good offer turned up you'd listen to it. Well that offer has arrived and I want to play for Spain. So keep your word and negotiate. I'm not interested in Brazil or any other nation. I only want to play for Spain."

Hi TH, loved that stuff about Wales and Spain.

From the video I saw, I'd make a completely uneducated guess and think that if GB has no further setbacks he must have a great chance of making the bench at least v Swansea.

    Gonna be fascinating.

  5. What we do know is that Bale hasn't put in a transfer request (because that would be all over the press like a very bad rash), and neither is Bale acting in the same petulant way that Goofy is.

That does give me some hope that we're keeping him at the Lane.

Then, again, of course, if a deal has already been struck, that would also explain why Bale hasn't made any noises.

Jesus! I cannot wait until the end of this window.

That's my concern Hiag. - that the club is on lockdown and he's remaining silent, because we're currently in the recruitment process prior to his inevitable departure, which has already been agreed. <yikes>

I might do this poll again in a week, see if the mood has changed? The noises out of Madrid are hopeful, and Utd have no chance. Just hope if he is staying that he signs a contract extension. If not, we may be faced with a situation where we have to sell him next yeat or risk it going to one year left and have to sell him for 30-40m?

Thats why i think we need to entice him into a new contract with a release clause that can be activated from next summer. Realistically he won't be with us forever and we can't risk getting nowt for him.
That way we've effectively given him a pay-rise for a year that he can get out of if someone wants him and he wants to go.

Today's media reporting that Madrid have cooled interest in Bale. I'm taking this with a lorry load of salt.

Firstly, the quotations from Ancelotti and Ronaldo have been manipulated heavily to say something which they didn't - all they basically said was we don't want to talk about Bale at the present time, doesn't mean anything, except perhaps they've heeded DL's warnings about tapping up his player.

These are the only two quotes which the story's based on. Hardly definitive.

Secondly the media have already reported once this summer that Madrid have "cooled interest" only for another ****storm to hit about two weeks later. I fully expect the next two weeks to be the calm before the storm, before interest is ramped up again at the end of the window.

I'd love Bale to stay, and I think he will, but if I disregard media rumours of £100m bids then equally I have to disregard rumours that they are no longer interested. You can't just believe the media when they're saying something you want to hear.

You make a good point WY. In the end we will just have to wait for the bloody window to slam shut. News? they're having a laugh. They should change the word News to Confuse it would be more accurate of the media role in all areas.

I think we all know now Bale has no chance of Ireland or Palace by the look of it... http://www1.skysports.com/football/...of-wales-friendly-against-republic-of-ireland

Someone else has put it up already that its normal practice for International team medical staff to assess players themselves, there's nothing odd about that...phonecalls from SAF saying his best players have 'a knock' and can't play probably changed that! He's doing light training with us and did some more with them.

Not cheating, just smart. The poll asks if he will be playing in September so I have well over a month to cast my vote from where I'm standing! :emoticon-0172-mooni

I also question how much Real are wiling to pay, or indeed, if they have made a formal bid even. Perez denies that any talks took place with Levy in Florida, but then maybe he would.

What does seem reasonably sure is that whatever figure Real have in mind is less than the figure Levy has in mind.

According to some sources, our demands for Morata to be included in any deal, are the sticking point. But then, it could just be that Levy is making demands that he knows Real won't agree to.

We will just have to wait anxiously for the next 18 days or so!...

<steam> The idea was to see how we felt now, at this point in time. I should have had the poll closing tomorrow. Eventually we'll all know what's going to happen.

Also, its not a game. You don't win for getting it right, its the taking part that counts, like the prediction leagues :p
