It's not just he is another midfielder, he isn't good enough!
He has been the main man for West Ham, struggling with relegation for 2 seasons, and was relegated only a few weeks ago. As I have said, he is the flavour of the month with the English press....I would look good if I was playing in a team full on infants
He is 30? And the quoted £10 million for him is a joke. Where would he fit in? I would put Hudd, Sandro and even Jenas on his day before Parker. He is an average player and it smells like a signing we would have made 6 or 7 years ago, not now when we want to be in the top 4 every season!

I wouldn't say that he'd be a bad signing and his performances for West Ham have been outstanding, even if you ignore the dross that he's playing alongside.
He also seems to have good leadership qualities, which is something that we lack.
Where would he fit in?
Well that depends on what else happens in the transfer window, but I certainly wouldn't be too disappointed to see Parker and Huddlestone as back-up to Modric and Sandro.
With the overlong Europa League there will still be plenty of fixtures, if we make progress.

@ RRP, i do agree that 10mil is to much for a 30 year old Scott Parker and Westham being the stubborn ****s that they are will try and take us to the cleaners with him but if we can get him for 7mil or something like that i think it's a decent option. Come on mate you telling me Jenas is better than Parker? You can't be serious mate. I'm not saying Parker is the answer to all our prayes and i can see where your coming from about the whole "flavour of the month" issue but he is still a better midfielder than Palacios and Jenas. If it means getting rid of Deadwood average players and getting in better players then i'm all up for improvement. If we were down with Injuries in the centre of midfield then i would much rather Parker come into the team than Jermane Jenas. That being said as you are well aware i would be extremely angry if we don't get in a couple..... 2 or 3 top class strikers this summer

But when the chips are down and we need a player to come up with some special when we are struggling to break teams down, can you really see Parker running in on goal or threading a accurate pass to our strikers? Because that's the player we need, we don't need someone who sits in midfield and puts a few tackles in a game, we already have that with Sandro and Hudd can do that as well

£10m is too much and I'm sure that it'll be lower than that if the deal does go through, but I think that Parker would offer a very useful option in the middle of the park.
The Europa League has something like 19 games in it if you go all the way, so that could end up being a substantial drain on the squad, plus I'd hope for some progress in the domestic cups this season.
If Palacios, O'Hara and Jenas leave, then we'd need someone to come in and do a good job, but not command a place in the first XI instantly, as I wouldn't like to see Modric or Sandro displaced.

Scott parker is the best cheap and realistic option we can get for that kind of role. If we want better than him then were looking at spending a good 15mil plus on a pointless position where as we need all the cash we want for other important areas like Strikers. I just think with all the teams around us strengthening, it is going to be even harder to get 4th place next season, and i dont think going for a cheap option is the best way to go, but i also know we cant compete with Man City and their money, so maybe Parker is the best option available

Exactly mate, like i said aslong as our main priority is getting in a couple of top class strikers to start banging in the goals next season then i would be really happy. I'm actually starting to believe were going to get Drogba RRP!!!! I don't know what it is but i keeps popping up in the press and it's not going away plus we all know Drogbas become a bit unhappy at life at the bridge. A fresh start at the lane to end his career would go down a treat I know the guys 33 but for a short term option he would be exceptional and even at 33 he's still one of the best strikers in the world right now.

I think that one other bonus with Parker is that he'd be capable of playing with Sandro, Modric or Huddlestone and still make an effective pairing.
Each selection would give us different strengths.
It would be interesting to see what kind of reaction he'd get in a Spurs shirt at the Boleyn, too.

Spot on with Drogba there Don! - Im convinced the striker situation is a priority, but we know Harry loves his midfielders

If Harry and Co can get him fired up and wanting to put himself about then he is unplayable on his day, even at 33, and its also his name in the world of football which could help us attract other players and possibly keep Modric!

I think that the Drogba thing's a red herring, Don.
He'll wait to see who the new Chelsea manager is and then sign a new deal, as long as it's not a total write-off of an appointment.
I can see us going for someone with experience and looking to Damaio for the future.

I think the West Ham fans would applaud Parker without doubt, he is the main reason they were still in the PL last season and he carried the team for a number of years...he has also made it clear he is going to leave so he isn't doing a Sol Campbell
When you think Parker has only been at West Ham for just over 3 years, its odd they call him Mr West Ham
It could be worse..... It could be Charlie sodding Adam. Maybe that was 'Arry's ploy during the January transfer window. Put in bids for World Class, exciting players like Adam and...ummmmm..... Phil Neville to make us more appreciative when he goes in for Parker.
I think sometimes we have to look at the bigger picture. Would you really want either Fletcher or Park Ji Sung in the Spurs team? Not exactly exciting but are pivotal to Man Utd's success. Arguably Man Utd look worse when they aren't there. Maybe Parker can be that type of player for us?

Ferguson always has people in his squad that can do an important but non-glamorous job, work extremely hard, train well, have a great attitude and don't kick up a fuss when they're left out of the side.

Agree completely mate...... the likes of park Ji sung, Fletcher and even Valencia are hardly world class talent but they do an excellent job for United and are a big reason why United won the league this season and are so successful. Scott Parker might not be the most exciting of signings but he can do a job for us and a good one aswell...... He would put his all into our team and that's someone we need!!!

£10 for Parker? I'd much rather that we put the money towards the purchase of Berbatov or that young Brazilian lad. We don't need another central midfielder unless we can effectively swap him for Palacios.
We've got to be careful about getting rid of Kranjcar. I'm sure that one of the reasons that Modric is happy at the club is because he has two good buddies here. Get rid of either of them and that could be the tipping point at which he hands in a transfer request to United.

I think we have to look at HOW badly do we want, or need him. For me, up to £5mm and assuming we have sold a couple - ok,, maybe. More than that - No. As has been said, we already have enough competition for places in our midfield. Why don't we concentrate on where we are weak? Up front, and possibly a tweak of the defence.
