I hope you all heard the first episode of ten last night on Radio 4!! It is unimaginable today to think of the manager and training staff going over every inch of ground picking up broken glass, bricks, stones, thistles whilst their players lapped the pitches, slowed down in amazement and were promptly admonished for doing so!! Shankly makes today's top managers seem like complete jokers. If you haven't heard it go to the Radio 4 i-player and listen again!! And it should be the first item on a Christmas shopping list for anyone interested in football, anyone wanting to improve their management skills in whatever field of employment they are in, anyone who loves reading. It is well known that many young lads do not like reading. Get them this book and they may begin to love reading. With much XXXXX from Ides in Mallorca!!
I must admit I'd forgotten it was starting last night. Cheers for the heads up Ides I'll check it tonight.
It is a very refreshing listen El Pistolero, and I am sure an excellent read, and very, very different from the bog-standard auto/bio on football!!
Okay, just looking at yesterdays Radio 4 listings on i-player and can't see it Edit: it's not in the A-Z listings either
Having listened to the Book At Bedtime on iPlayer I have to totally agree with the Independent critique. The style I found detracted from the substance to the point were I will not be rushing out to buy the book.
This looks interesting too http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b038mbbj/Football_Madness_and_Me/ documentary on people using football as therapy for mental health problems...hang on, isn't that happening already but professionally?? Will have a look/read of the Peace, enjoyed The Damned Utd (book and film) and Red Riding.
