We need someone to replace Arshavin, as Nasri can't play LW and its unlikely that Miyaichi will break into the starting 11. However, we could buy Xherdan Shaqiri, a 19 year-old Albanian who is a Swiss national, so work permit would not be a problem. He would cost around 5-8 million but I feel it would be worth it as he can dribble, pass, cross, take free kicks and has an eye for goal. Regarded by many as the future of Swiss football, he would be an awesome signing for Wenger to make. The hard part would be persuading FC Basel to let him go, but I'm sure he would have no problems coming to the Arsenal. He is left-footed and would fit in perfectly into our system. Basel play a similar style of football to us, with lots of passes and good ball possession, looking for an opening. The only difference is that they have a 6'5" Streller to pump balls into the box to if they want. Shaqiri would offer something different to out team, as he runs at players, can cross the ball WELL, is very hard working and would shoot occasionally if our passes aren't working. He started out as a LB, so he is good at defending and can help whoever we have at LB next season, I think Gibbs, which has been a problem for us with Arshavin and Nasri playing there. This is what our team would look like next year if we sold Nasri and Clichy and didn't buy anyone else: --------------Szczesny--------------- --Sagna--Djourou--Vermaelen--Gibbs-- -----------Song----Wilshere---------- --Walcott-----Fabregas-----Shaqiri--- ---------------v.Persie Of course, I would also like Wenger to buy a dominant CB, i.e. Samba or Cahill (I would prefer Samba), and also bought a striker to partner v. Persie (I would like Gameiro) and went back to a 4-4-2, like this: -------------Szczesny--------------- --Sagna--Samba--Vermaelen--Gibbs-- -Walcott--Song----Fabregas--Shaqiri- ---------Gameiro--v.Persie----------- Subs: Fabianksi, Koscielny, Djourou, Wilshere, Ramsey, Arshavin, Chamakh. Due to injuries, all of the subs would likely get lots of games, especially if we go far in all 4 competitions next year. This would give these guys also a chance: Reserves: Mannone, Eboue, Traore, Bartley, Frimpong, Lansbury, Alvarez (hopefully), Bedntner (if he stays), JET. Thank you for your time. Wilshere can't play LW. He used to but I don't think he would anymore. Plus Wenger will have a rotation policy next year.
to play as a left forward he needs to be a regular goalscorer. botelho will be competing next season and arshavin says he isn't leaving, Arsenal have also been linked with Alvarez who can play on the left. i'd honestly rather N'Zogbia than anyone else - tricks, pace, can score, great free kick, Premiership experience and only 24.
But you put him in the team instead of Wilshere, regardless of the fact that Jack is a CM. Also, I feel Alvarez is better.
He is rather small though and we all know how we all feel about small players at Arsenal. At least the Alvarez has some height on him too...
I really like this kid! very clever player! I also like dirk meertens of Belgium. IMO looks a brilliant young winger! Think Ajax have signed him up though!
I'm a good youth prospect. 17 and completely undiscovered. I could make you a youtube video showing off my lightening speed (speed up vid) and my 1-in-5 accurate short range passing
If anyone wants to watch him he is playing vs. Switzerland in the Euro qualifier tonight, starting as well. 16:45 GMT on ITV tonight.
I live in Switzerland, so I watch a fair amount of Super League football. Shaqiri has definitely been a vital figure for Basel in their title-winning season. They have lacked a certain spark we he hasn't played. He is also very versatile as he used to play full-back and can play all across midfield. His attacking play is still fairly gung-ho at the moment, as he tries to get a shot in at every opportunity. I'm not sure if he's ready for the Premier League, but maybe under Wenger he can be formed into a more mature player.
