Why, Dai, so they can skulk in a layby having a doze until the next innocent trundles by doing 32 mph?

I know a lot of coppers and have done over the years. Some are good friends, some are family. I was once framed (I kid you not) by one uniformed scrote for speeding along the Mumbles Road at 2am, no witnesses, when I knew I had not been. My solicitor advised me not to fight it because I would have been targeted, as he put it, DESPITE the fact that from the copper's own statement, I could prove I was innocent. Fortunately, a prominent businessman owed me a favour and told me to forget about it when I told him about the case. I never heard another word.

Back in the day, two football mad plods regularly spent an hour at my home on a Saturday night watching MOD when they were supposed to be on duty. I also know a number of coppers who bragged to me about how they inflated their overtime claims etc etc.

I could go on and on but can't be bothered because I know what a joke the whole thing is, oh, and don't forget the fat pensions they get that enable them to retire at a young age should they so wish. I wouldn't carp so much if they were out there doing what they are paid to do - reducing serious crime. Fat chance when they can sit in a warm car catching up on the zzzzzs with a speed gun on their laps.

By the way, I'm happy to exclude those dedicated officers who take the job seriously and try to make a difference. There are some to be found if you look hard enough.

No. It's basic politics. The propaganda of the elite to divide the lower classes to keep their position in society.

Agree, Swamp. By Labour's OWN ADMISSION, they inherited a "Rolls Royce Economy" when Blair took office. Because of their utterly appalling policies, which included opening the floodgates of immigration (for which they have recently admitted they were wrong and apologised) they almost bankrupt the country. We are STILL paying the price and will be doing so for years to come. PILLOCKS!!!

People who want to call the Tories arseholes are entitled to do so because they are but it would be nice if they took off the blinkers once in a while and realised that their beloved Labour party are equally so. Politicians of whatever party are just self-serving, trough diving, corrupt liars so don't insult my intelligence by saying that Labour are any different.

When the economy was doing well under Brown, it was nothing whatsoever to do with the World economy; it was all to do with him being a "master" Chancellor- he had eliminated boom and bust! (Helped in no small way with his raid on company pension schemes)

But as soon as things turn pear shaped the Brown propaganda machine blames the World economy!

Yes Dai - both main parties spin propaganda to their own ends.

no it was not brown, It was a known fact that all the major countries went into recession together, japan is still like us in recession and some like germany have got out of recession....Brown was left with the mess and made a scapegoat and the tories started it all and are still doing it.....

The policy of mass immigration is not a Labour or Tory policy. (The Tories have not halted it since they came in to power). It is the policy of the economic elite, who have massive political power, to provide a flexible and cheap workforce to increase their profit margins.

Dai, I would halve MP's basic salaries at a stroke and insist that no one could seek election without having had a job for a minimum of ten years. That would sort the wheat from the chaff.

As for coppers, no way are they worth a starting salary of £30k for all sorts of reasons that I just don't have the time to go into.

    Dai,

When things were going well under Brown, did he acknowledge the fact that the principal driver was the buoyant World economy? No

Did Brown's policies raid UK Corporate Pension Schemes? Yes

As the Tories (who are no better) were not in office, what exactly are you blaming them for starting? For blaming Brown, Balls et al?

theres 2 types of immigration , EU and non EU, unlimited movement from the EU (total disaster) and non EU immigration which has been tightened up quite a bit since 2010.

your right the only beneficiaries are big business owners and bulgarians, poles etc who get minimum wage plus an array of benefits which is much more than what they would earn back home.

the tories and labour are as bad as each other, one has a track record of bankrupting the country, and the other widening the gap between rich and poor and scapegoating people...... where has all the money (which we could really do with now) from a boom from 1997-2007 gone? spunked down the toilet, doubling the private sector and making the welfare state such that you tax people and give them benefits even if they dont need them.

to hang on to the view that labour represents the working man in industry is about 30 years out of date. like i said before, labour believe in privatisation just as much as the tories and know we are relentlessly becoming more and more of a services economy........

PGF, if it was not Labour policy why did they apologise for it? True the Tories have not halted it but they are trying and the numbers are slowly, too slowly, reducing.

No, I'm sorry, it is now indelibly written in history with Labour's admission of their culpability. THEIR policy, THEIR foul up.

Before you jump to conclusions, I am not condoning or supporting Labour. Labour certainly did not have a manifesto of mass immigration. These decisions are made by a very small number of people, who will be lobbied/pressurised/rewarded by forces that many of us have never heard of and will never see.

You'd have to be pretty damn idealistic to believe a 21 yr old plod with his speed gun is somehow more important than the people who run the country. However much our politicians are hated being an MP is an incredibly important position.

Don't know how Things are done in the UK, one thing's for sure: only politicians who ACTUALLY do run countries are dictators. And yes policemen, good or bad, do a far more important job than most politicians; who only worry about their own eventual reelection.

and how much they can feather their nests while telling everyone else you have to make do and take cut backs as the country can't afford it....their £10k pay rise don't count, the £53 million to brussels per day and the millions of £'s in foreign aid that in some cases go on weapons that we cant afford ourselves dont count. Lets open the gates wide and let any tom dick or jane into the country so the british people become worst off as we are forced to look after these foreigners.......What a country we live in but hey its ok "we are all in this together"......yer right!
