  1. He gets his head on things but he is awful when it comes to accuracy!

I expected him to do well at West Ham (same with Downing if he goes) because there is less pressure to succeed and less demands on the style of play too.

  9. Fair enough, I know birthdays become less significant after having kids but I'll have to wait a while on the grandad front. My eldest is only six, other is three and youngest is minus six months

Cym....if we assume 75 is the average life expectancy. How many more world cups are you likely to witness?

Re the Suarez will he wont he saga, I know Arsenal have been on the other end of the stick many times with our own superstars, but there is one thing that I find uniquely odd about this one.

It's the orchestrated glee/pride you hear from Liverpool fans every time there is a report saying that RM's interest in Bale has waned...because it means they might come and buy Suarez instead. For a so called massive club this does come across as rather sad.

Yes I get the "better of two evils" rationale....but it's the joy and excitement you sense, from a significant number of LFC fans, at the prospect of getting shafted by R. Madrid that makes a mockery of the several eulogies to which we've recently been subjected of LFC's legendary pride and status as a massive club.

That's one thing we've not done.

    Have you had the chance?

Fabregas was always going to Barca.

Nasri was always going to City or United.

RVP - hints of Juve (and I remember fans saying they wanted him to go there, much like Suarez-Madrid), but really always between City and United.

I appreciate that and was thinking about adding this as a caveat. The evidence of a RM move for Suarez are no more concrete than Juve's alleged interest in RvP. Yet there seems to be far more enthusiasm for the former.

Comparisons to us aside, it nevertheless still does sit uncomfortably with all the reverential comments from ex Liverpool players and pundits.

Real Madrid represents everything that is wrong with modern football. It's almost every season that Real seem to have the need to go out and buy that one big player, even when they clearly don't need to. If they don't get Bale, will they be under pressure to buy someone else and does that someone else mean Suarez? Whats sickening is they really don't need anyone. They have a great squad, they really don't need to strengthen. Let's hope they see sense and don't go out and buy Suarez for the sake of it.

True but its the way Real Madrid are.

They have a history of buying players they dont need. Getting in debt then having the City of Madrid Bankroll them.

This is why the likes of Schneider, Huntelaar etc.. just got overlooked.

It makes it all the worse when your country is going down the pan. I remember a few years ago when they had Robben's and Sneijder but got rid of them as they were surplus to requirements. Those players went on to win the Champions league with two different clubs. It tells you how clueless the club is. The funniest part is clubs like Man City, PSG, Chelsea etc get criticised for buying trophies, when Real Madrid have been doing it for eons, and that with Government money. Talk about corrupt!

I find we have few views held in common, but we agree on this. I don't agree with you because I am a Barcelona fan either. I don't really like either club, but Real Madrid are the greater evil. The decades Spain spent not winning anything internationally was almost entirely due to them. It is no surprise that Spain's recent successes came largely, because of Barcelona.

I am very surprised Real Madrid garner the support they do, because it seems that in the current financial situation, it is the very worst show of excess.
