The past week has shown how crazy this forum can be. A victory against Gillingham and we're Barcelona. A loss to Coventry and we're Keynsham Town... So, given the dreadful performance we saw from Fontaine, would you be willing to drop that £1m we landed from Adomah on a proven defender, or do you think we still need to spend that money on our attacking options?
We need a quality striker Taylor is not the answer, Baldock is light weight,Harwood could do a good job in this league,i wish SoD would give him a game,i appreciate he is building up match fitness but miles better than Taylor at 75% fitness. Get Louis back in there different gravy to Fontaine or give Williams a go.
Baldock isn't lightweight. Look at his 2nd yesterday. A new striker would be back up to him. The JET and Baldock partnership is working fine. 5 goals between them and 6 assists after only 3 games, Don't touch it if it isn't broken. I would rather us buy a 20/21 year old striker with potential than waste money on a striker who could be a gamble. We have around 1.2 million to spend. Get in a replacement for Adomah, Cox of Orient would be ideal and spend some money to replace Fontaine. Flint and Williams now must be given the chance!!!
Sorry but the Adomah money is already spent - and Carey is nowhere near the player he was. We need to get another Caulker to inspire them. Not an easy task finding one of those.
Okay can you answer the below question honestly. When has Fontaine ever been the player Carey is. A fit Carey would never make the mistakes Fontaine has made and is still making.
Carey isn't the answer, 37 years old now, We can't rely on him to help us out all the time. Williams should be the next to have a go.
Agree Williams should be given a go now,or Carey if not either will be a better proposition than Fontaine.
I am with this guy. We could have Rooney and Ronaldo, but with our defence it would be pointless because we would lose all our games 5-bloody 4. Now when have we heard this before ? Get the defence sorted once and for all, then we can start thinking about what our attack is doing. Otherwise we will be the highest scoring div 1 team ever to end up in div 2
One defeat and panic has set in!........last season it was said, why don't SOD attack more away from home, if we are going lose, surely it's better losing 4-5 than 0-1, at least it would give us some entertainment...not my words but a few here on 606!
If there is any money left, my suggestion would be to try and bring someone in like Tom Pope of Port Vale as I cant see Baldock being fit the whole season and if he was to get an injury it leaves us with few options. Pope should last season that he can score goals scoring 33 goals. He's good in the air and on the ground and offers something different to what Baldock brings
Why do you not see Baldock staying fit all season...? It really pisses me off when people brand players as this and that when they have had a bad season injury wise. Lets see what this year has to offer, I think that if he stays fit, he has every chance of being top scorer (probably get injured now just to show me up...)
Hopefully it wont piss u off that i also think elliott wont play every game and will likely miss some games with injuries and i also think fonts will make a few more mistakes before the end of the season. Unfortunately Baldock career has been riddled with injuries and was a main reason he left west ham after he lost his place in their team when he got injured. He miss games last season due to injuries for us and even pre season he missed games with injuries. There was also reports last week that he was injuried as reported on here but still played the game so dont know if that was false news or he played even though he wasnt 100%. My problem is if u have someone like that then u need a back up option that can come in so that it takes some pressure off of baldock so he can have a game off every so often as with the league and 3 cup competition we are in he could play around 50-60 games this season
To those saying the money has already been spent, how can this be the case, unless we were running on a deficit before our recent signings?
The Adomah money has not been sent. On Radio Bristol on the Saturday we played Bradford, SoD was asked about new strikers. He said if Albert goes we would be looking at one level, and if he stayed a lower level. Therefore the money is available - more likely for wages than a huge fee.
I would rather see the money spent on a reliable central defender to play with Flint. When you think about all the hit or miss forwards and midfielders this club has bought or loaned over the past 5 years, how many defenders have we got in ? When Bikey is widely regarded as one of the best we know its an area that needs serious attention, especially when you consider our defensive abilities just got us relegated. At the moment I would rather a 1-1 or 0-0 than a 4-5, because I do not want our club sitting at the bottom of div 2. We did that before, remember ?
