Starting to feel that dere itch again...

Mmhmhn, been a strange off-season for me, really haven't been paying any attention at all to football matters, didn't bother with any of the gossip or pre-season games even. Of course I too am/have been underwhelmed by our transfer activity or rather the lack there of, BUT I just realised it's only a week to go now till we kick off the new season and it's suddenly hit me this morning, how much I've missed it.

Since I'm an upbeat guy and choose to view cups as half-full I'm feeling strangely positive about the season ahead (much like I did about the one prior to last). But even if we suck again, just give me some frigging football to watch at least once a week! Really looking forward to Hatem and Tiote to be back to their best.

In other news, P-E Aubameyang scored a hattrick at the weekend for BVB on his debut in a league match. For real dude? GAAAAAAAAAH!

Always get a buzz when Saturday comes and I head off into town with my B&W top on.

 

for me .. a bit strange to just have no real excitement .. really feel that the pl is just a London and Manchester and money .. its changed . with Ashley I think you will see a low attendance this year people I think are just not bothered.

I got my son his season ticket ..but I chose not to as I can watch on tv and play golf or watch my youngest play ..which I would rather do ..

Ashley has ruined the spirit of the club fans etc ...

How many hours will two bottles last?

 

ST arrived this morning, Half a dozen fantasy teams to sort out, excitement is growing and I'm feeling positive.

The season is fast approaching, just a shame we have to wait until Monday.

 

That is the most annoying thing about this build-up, keep getting giddy for the weekend only to remember we're not actually playing. Anyone got a saturday game they're going to be tuning in for in the absence of our lovely hoofball?

 

First match and last match should start at the same time. I think this gives City the advantage, so many reasons to raise their game by Monday night.

Relief not yet in sight.

Miffed about the monday too, but in fairness, Monday night games are always either crazy or drab hard fought rainy draws, either should actually suit us against city. If there's chance of an upset, always more likely to happen on a weeknight evening than on a sat afternoon.

The feel I'm getting we're all so numb to the constant drama surrounding our club we just take it as is now.

 

I'm not feeling the buzz to be honest. I'm sure once we get under way it will return. Being honest the PL has lost its appeal a little for me over recent times. I don't watch hardly any games aside from our own.

 

Mirrors my feelings. There's been many factors than have continued to devalue the game - Sky, FIFA, salaries, short-termism and sensationalism chief among them. But two things have almost destroyed it completely for me. Firstly, Man City. It was bad enough the first time with Roman, but now Dubai...sheesh. Secondly was our Europa League campaign. Underwhelming coverage, two CL drop-outs competing for the trophy in the end, Pards endless attitude towards those matches as if we begrudged having to play them....I come from an era where getting into Europe was an honour and a privilege, not an inconvenience. It made me think, as a fan of a club who really cannot get 4th, "what's the point? Highest we can achieve is 5th, and all we do is moan because of it's repercussions. So, again, what's the point?"

 

The buzz will come on August 24th and let's hope a good Newcastle team turn up this season.

 

A couple of decent non-league games on Saturday, Gateshead at home to Barnet in the Conference - may go to that. Also Dunston Fed at home in the FA Cup.

 

The buzz will probably hit when I get on the bus to go to Manchester next Monday afternoon. I hope so anyways.

 

Just got my sky sports half price for 6 months, set up my fantasy league and am about to look at my pre season bets. Getting nicely lubed up for the weekend.

 

We really are the only football club in the world that announces who we're not going to sign.
