Watford just signed their first loan signing, hope we don't sign too many as it's spoiling the game you know!
Whoop di do - lets have a party because some team we don't have a rivalry with signed a player on loan after abusing the system last season. We don't give a **** about Watford until we play you - go away little man.
I think you should pack up your foldaway chair, fishing rod, and packed lunch, and naff off back home. There's nothing to be caught here today lad
Now now children ... good start for Watford ... in fairness you do seem to know how to approach a home game
Fosse, if our owners also happened to own, say, Lazio, and gave us 8 players, I'm sure we'd know how to approach a home game too
... I'd like to think so Jack ... but I think you are jumping to assumptions ... first home game of the season you should be looking to get the punters on the edge of their seats and dying to come back ... rather than dying of boredom ... a missed opportunity for me and a terrible advert for Championship football - which will definitely not be boosting our home attendances any time soon ...
Some dodgy business is going on at Watford anyway. You don't get players that good in the championship unless you're paying decent wages, which thanks to ffp Watford can't afford to do. Either they are circumventing ffp, and therefore abusing the system again, or their players are going to start asking for transfers.
Wishful thinking Marko, i'm sure you will be disappointed on all accounts. Best long term owners / scouting system in the football world. p.s. Is the french kid still crying?
Watford aren't breaking any rules because the rules aren't there to be broken. Its immoral and against the ethics of the game but thats up to the relevant authorities to change and until they do Watford will continue to take advantage. Lets be honest if any club did it, the fans of that club would be defending it to the death and if Leeds were doing it I'd think thats great because it gives us a great opportunity for promotion. Realistically I don't think you should be allowed to own more than one club in world football.
What is immoral is football clubs spending money they don't have then then defaulting leaving local businesses in dire straights by non payment of goods and services.
'Immoral' is a very emotive word - and your view is rather 'selective' ... I'd agree that spending money you don't have with no prospect of ever being able to pay your creditors is immoral (perhaps 'unethical' or even 'fraudlent' are more appropriate terms for such practice) - but I don't honestly believe that any clubs that have had to go into administration set out with that particular intent - they were merely failed business models (or gambles) to a greater extent. I don't believe that what Watford are doing is immoral, neither is it frauduent ... but I do think it borders on unethical, on a par with excessive borrowing, because, at a simple level, both are 'enablers' to secure the use of assets that the acquirer is not financially capable of acquiring in isolation / based on FFP type rules. I do agree with one point made above - that individuals should not be able to acquire controlling interests in more than one football club.
