Gary Neville actually knows what he is talking about so I appreciate his words.

Neville is certainly one of the better pundits around. Doesn't just talk from his own ego, like most do.

I think all we know is there's a scan today at some point, last scan was clear so I have a feeling he will be ok. No one seems to know what time the scan is, nowt on twitter!

Got into work this morning and a colleague said "Shame about Hooper eh? Cruciates is a long lay off..."

    Bloody joker, I nearly cried!

yeh and comments like this on twitter equally piss me off:

"Just think @HOOP588 if you didn't leave us this year you wouldn't be injured and would be playing champions league football.."

    What a nob!

He had an x-ray yesterday, and is having a scan today. As Rob pointed out, x-rays and scans are used to detect different kinds of damage, so it is likely that the x-ray showed no break, and the scan is to determine the extent of any soft-tissue damage. <ok>

Not necessarily to everyone's tastes (or many of you may already have read them), but the pre-season assessments of each of the team's chances on the Guardian website are, IMO, some of the more insightful and objective comments:
    http://www.theguardian.com/football/premier-league-2013-14-previews

Currently they have just posted Newcastle's preview, so Norwich's should be out either this evening or tomorrow morning. The comments section is usually very lively and can be quite entertaining.

rob, i've been following these, thanks. the guardian sport report is i think very good. as for the news and comment section, i'll stay out of that debate.
looking forward to ours tomorrow <ok>

on a side note, have you seen the BBC's attempt? i didn't like it, pretty much a summary of ins and outs and fans predictions

Some good news, Bassong has come through 65 minutes in today's under 21 game against Stoke unscathed. City have won that 4-1.

BBC's is very poor. "Right, let's list a load of players, summarise the last 3 or 4 articles we've written on them in a sentence, scan the fixture list for something interesting, add a quote from a local source and the manager and voila, that's our pre-season summary written in half a day, tops". No real insight, no predictions, no substance. The standard of sports reporting on the BBC feels like it's at an all-time low.

BBC's sport reporting is poor and getting rapidly worse.

I think the Guardian's sport reporting, irrespective of your views of the newspaper as a whole, is head and shoulders above all other mainstream UK media

Becchio had to go off due to a bump to the head, hope he's ok. Bass surely isn't far from recovery seemed a good game and our youngsters are top notch.

Heard today hooper is in one of those boots and crutches. Doesn't mean anything though as they put them on anything to avoid any further damage till they are sure one way or the other.

I'm no physio but if the 2 scans thing is right I think it would be an X-ray first to assess the bones for breaks, which he allegedly has passed okay, next would be an ultrasound type scan for soft tissue/ligaments etc? I don't think we are talking a career breaker here but I want him back ASAP of course.

Trying to keep my rage in about him. He is genuinely useless. The FAs little golden child experiment thy throw out to the "small teams" because it doesn't matter if he ****s up and screws us over because we are just Norwich. As long as its not a big team that's fine.

Vs reading, grant holt, worst red card of all time.

So how do you think we will do if Hooper is injured for the first part of the season?, would we be ok with just RVW?

well I thought we needed a number 10 striker even after we got hooper and still think that. It's a good thing we have got the bulk of the signings done nice and early and a fair amount of cohesion has taken place but there is definitely room for 1 or 2 more of the deals can be done.

Hooper is the best bet for goals early on I think so to lose him will be a bit of a blow but wolfswinkels quality is undeniable. He will prove his worth.
