http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23591995 Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this game, but these guys really deserve a round of applause when they step onto our hallowed turf.
we have some history here did we not get a dodgy draw against them in the FA Cup and then lose away in the Rodent era hats off to the guys for saving the club
Precisely - I may decide to go now as much to support a club which was on the brink of extinction and I'm sure their players will be up for the game. Also hope we give some of our fringe and youth players a chance in this fxture.
I believe you may have point - SJC. Although I would put any blame squarely at the feet of the Rodent.
Personally I want to annihilate any side we face and want our strongest side fielded. We have a squad good enough to win this cup now and dont want to take any risks.
I fully agree with that but wouldn't it be nice if we set an example to other ' bigger clubs ' by saying to Bury ' if we beat you we will take our expenses out of the gate proceeds and let you have the rest '
I'd probably class Bury as my second side, as they're my dad's team. First game I ever saw was a 0-0 versus them, and I've visited Gigg Lane on a couple of occasions. Good to see they've somehow survived their problems, even if the manager has admitted he can't even remember the names of all his players yet! The idea of giving them the profits is a nice one, although I'd rather the team said "if we lose, every player who plays will donate x", so it hurts the club coffers less, and provides extra motivation. In reality though I suspect Bury will be very happy with a draw against a PL side, as they'll make much more than if they'd got a smaller club anyway.
Perhaps we could combine the 2 DH - if we win you get the gate but if you win the players cough up! There can be no doubt that Premiership clubs crap on the smaller clubs - what chance have Bury got of getting decent crowds with all the Premier Clubs nearby? The Premier League, as an organisation, do not care what happens to the smaller Clubs so I think it would be good PR, if nothing else, if sometimes a bigger club, such as ours, said ' what we make on the night is peanuts compared to our overall income so have the lot, less expenses, if we beat you as it might help keep you going for a bit longer ' - and before you say it, Supers, no I haven't gone soft in my old age!!
I'm an absolute pussy cat, Dave - haven't you noticed it before? Incidentally have you had any further contact with Redruth? I quite miss the old lad.
I think we owe things to the smaller clubs - this is a chance to not be corporate bastards like other clubs at the upper end of the PL. Come to some arrangement please!
A long, long time ago... I can still remember How that music used to make me smile And I knew if I had my chance That I could make those people dance And, maybe, theyâd be happy for a while But February made me shiver With every paper Iâd deliver Bad news on the doorstep; I couldnât take one more step I canât remember if I cried When I read about his widowed bride But something touched me deep inside The day the music died So bye-bye, Miss American Pie Drove my Chevy to the levee But the levee was dry And them good old boys were drinkinâ whiskey in Rye Singinâ, "Thisâll be the day that I die "Thisâll be the day that I die."
