Defence was definitely encouraging. Thought Poleon being introduced helped a bit up front as well. Is it fitness improvements that allow most of midfield to get behind the ball when we're in schtuck? Answers on a postcard... Also nice to see Brian making logical changes in response to what's happening on the pitch. I'm now feeling good about this season (compared to last). It was only a draw, but away, against a team that's much better than us on paper, I'll have that. Morons.
Agree with you on most of this, but not with Green. Ran his legs off & was very positive. He was dead on his feet at the end. Not quite so convinced re. Pelts. He was reasonable at best in defence & awful going forward. We slag off White for his final ball, but Pelts is equally as poor. Think the writing might be on the wall for him now that he's lost the armband.
I wanted to be more positive with Green and agree he did run about but I felt his passing was wayward and he gave the ball away too much for my liking. I do think we are going to have to keep a lot more clean sheets if we are to do well this season as I can't see we have a 20 goal striker and if we do I can't see where another 30 goals will come from. Two league games in and I am very pleased with how things stand, would be nice to get a quality signing before next Saturday. I wouldn't mind if we replaced Peltier, Lee's or Pearce, they are all adequate and certainly better than previous seasons but certainly not a group or collective that I feel 100% confident in and it doesn't look like we are going to have Byram playing many if any this side of Christmas.
The role green has is unattractive but needed, Derry did it got criticism Doyle did it got criticism Johnson did it got criticism Howson did it got criticism Once u take them out of the team people realise the job they do. Green was awesome last season and works so hard for the team
Excellent vocal support from your lot today ... but very depressing how far Leeds United and Leicester City have fallen from grace ... watched Swansea at Monaco in midweek ... we are worlds away it pains me to say ...
Ive said that here many times myself. However, for the first time in nearly a decade, things are clearly improving for us. One of the best management teams in the division, enormous premier size fanbase that are now flocking back to Elland Road and owners seemingly willing to reinvest whatever is left after paying off Batess debts. Ive a feeling promotion is not likely this season but we will be damn close next year
Just back. Fans were awesome, apart from the cretin who threw the smoke cannister and then ran away. The chasing cops splattered a little kid in the rush to get him. Not good. If we could play like that every week we will be there or there abouts. Is this the same defence as last year, they are unrecognisable. Rudy as captain was imense in the first half. I would give us 8/10 today
We were solid, nothing more. Lack of creativity up front still. Glaring problem that needs dealing with.
If we could play like that every week??? you have got to be kidding, that was awful IMO, Peltier.....cannot go forward or hit a pass upfield. Green......covers a lot of ground!!! does not create anything, 75% of his passes went to opposition. Varney....no creativity whatsoever, and you can link that with a lack of skill Hunt.......did absolutely nothing, dont know what he is doing at ER??? Murphy....looks like he may be a good prospect, but got caught in posession too much, has to learn fast. Poleon & Smith came on and there was a little bit of spark, but if thats the best both these teams have to offer, we are a long way from getting to the Premier, and if we did it would be embarrassing watching defeats week in week out. Mr. McD has got a massive job in hand, needs the board to back him. One thing i am certain about is, we have the best away support in UK bar none, terrific from start to finish 10/10 MOT
Can't believe the moaning, last three league games we've played the 3 play-off losers.Won 2 and drawn 1.Playing well and not many teams will restrict Leicester to so few chances at home.Very happy myself and if we can get to Jan and still be round abouts you never know.
I agree Chesh, I'm very happy with the way things are going, and I was happy with the performance yesterday. Maybe it's because my levels of expectancy are now more realistic, and I see it as a work in progress which will take a couple of years, but from what I've seen so far, the commitment and organisation, we won't be far away this season.
Not wishing to take away from a solid point performance but the real measure is what would happen to either of our teams in the Premier League right now ... roadkill.
Worry about that if and when it happens, and obviously a lot of new players would be brought in upon gaining promotion.
Not a great game yesterday.... or could it be 2 of the final top 6 just cancelled each other out. Our team is starting to take shape. When all fit our back 4 will be Byram, Lees, Peltier, & Warnock. Midfield Diamond will be Austin at the base, Ross at the top, perm 2 from Murphy, Green, Tonge, White, Diouf, & Hall across each wide. Poleon, Varney up top with Hunt and Smith on the bench. Possibly swap Hunt & Poleon to allow Poleon to have an impact off the bench. All in all, we're coming along nicely. The test is going to be Watford at their place.
I thought Pelts was poor. I dont know if nerves played its part as he was back at his old stomping ground, but he even managed a foul throw! To think he is a natural right back is just plan bizarre as he looks better as CB. Hunt didnt really get into the game and I would like to see Rosco a bit further forward but overall a good frustrating performance. More game time for Poleon though please
Shockingly boring game to watch, good point though against a side who has money pumped into it. Glad I wasn't sober while watching the game. Roll on wendies...
I wasn't as impressed as some on here were and I'm normally a positive one... Solid but created nothing of any note, Poleon was ok when he came on but lacked that final bit of skill or quality to create a goal. Ross wasn't that good either actually. I thought we were solid, thought Pearce was pretty good at CB today so think he deserves a mention and Peltier was pretty poor. Dunno why people would be wanting Peltier at CB in place of Pearce on the back of that performance. Austin coming back made as so much more solid and he was definitely our best player, saying that I wouldn't be playing both him and Green. Green did better than some are saying and I don't think had a bad game but you would like more creative spark if your playing Austin in there, personally I woulda been tempted to keep Tonge in there or maybe he went with both Green and Austin because its an away game against a top 6 contender. Hunt and Varney were both poor, it was looking good for Varney this season as I thought he looked sharper and fitter (which I still think) but he doesn't have the quality and does need to be replaced in the starting lineup. Maybe he could have a decent impact from the bench but shouldn't be starting imo.
Shows how we all view things differently, who would be a manager eh Green for me was the worse player, I take on board what others are saying about his role for the team but to give so many balls away with his wayward passing just wasn't acceptable for me.
Very good away performance. Solid, well organised, determined and a couple of opportunities to nick it. Just lacked that bit of creativity to win us the game. If we turn ER into a fortress and play like that every way game we won't be too far away. Add a CB and a winger or two and I think we could do it.
