Clive Allen seems to feature in a lot of your stories, OS. Sounds like a much more vocal and opinionated person than I've ever gathered from his (few) public utterances. Love the idea of him giving JJ stick. Shame he was a Spurs player at the time so Clive Allen couldn't also point out what a very crap footballer he was.

I don't particularly like Sherwood as it is. This is the final nail in the coffin.

Wasn't the groundsman head hunted from highbury?

    Tim Sherwood's a gooner? <yikes>

Are the rumours that he has an Arsenal tattoo true Spurcat?

That makes the Baldini signing even better in my eyes, as Sherwood was widely reported to be after the role, and if we'd let a goon handle transfers god knows what might've happened.

Great story about Clive Allen SC! It's nice to get a few insights into the club's personalities. And I'm pleased that you're a fan of baldini, so glad he's working out!

Halilovic! Great news. Lets close the deal now!!!

I take it I am one of said nay-sayers you are referring too?

I have already said in a previous post that I am impressed Levy has backed AVB. I still stand by my comments though, had we had a decent striker in January we would have finished in the top 4.

Don't understand why people get uptight on here and accuse people of negativity. This is a public forum for people to discuss football and voice their opinions, whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant.

True, but it's only natural that people get frustrated when they think someone else is making moronic points - it's human nature, and 'moronic' is a fairly subjective adjective.

To debate you need two different points of view.

If people are blinkered enough to only hear or see what they want to hear / see what is more moronic?

Personally that's why I'm here to discuss and learn other peoples view. By reading other opinions one can reflect and maybe understand the other side of the argument.

In a real debate you should really know the other side of the argument before the other person says it though - otherwise you probably don't know enough about the subject to be arguing about it.

Ultimately the reason people enter debates is because they think they're right about something, and want to convince other people they're right. Unfortunately debate on here is not like real debate, because so much of it is based on speculation and rumour, rather than fact. This makes it practically impossible to win a debate on here definitively. The result is people get frustrated about not being able to close the argument and that comes out in name calling etc.

I disagree on the not understanding element but agree with your comments reference name calling of other users.

Putting football aside when debating or arguing a subject sometimes stubbornness or nativity can make one blind.

I myself can be very stubborn and until I actually read comments or listen to others views I can't understand the full story.

My point is everyone is different on a personality level.

It depends what the debate is about. If it's about opinions then it's fine to 'agree to disagree' and essentially that's the only way the argument will end, but...

If the debate has significant facts supporting your side, and it's something you feel strongly about, you're entitled to take an aggressive stance on the issue.

If someone who you deem to be making silly statements appears to be winning followers then surely it's your duty to try to stop the spread of ignorance.

I must admit my post was abit rushed and reading it back came across as abit sarcastic.

The point I was trying to get across is we all need to have more faith in AVB and Levy / Baldini.

I doubted them when they signed Dempsey but although I think I was right that he isn't 'spurs class' he scored some crucial goals and turned out to be a very important signing.

Phrases like 'we'll be challenging for 6th', 'same old spurs' and 'levy and AvB have ruined our season' were used after Caulker was sold which is ridiculous. People seemed to think they sold Caulker on a whim with no plans or thought involved.

All I was trying to say was we all need to have more faith in AvB and Levy / Baldini as they have done us proud so far!

Hi TJ, your optimism is a credit to you. But I'll have faith in AVB/ENIC when they deliver 4th/a trophy. Before then, I'll be remaining a 'doubting Greavesie'

ENIC's current trophy haul of one Lge Cup in 13 years, is our worst for over 60 years. Let them improve on that, or get us another CL run, and then my faith will arise. Last season we got off to a poor start, and AVB was one of the major reasons for that, our transfer strategy (which involves ENIC) was another. Let's see if we get off to a good start this season.

Leaving us so short of fit CBs when we sold Caulker was a massive gamble. We may have got away with it, we may not. Let's see how the defence copes at Palace. Incidentally, LB is still a real problem area, and has yet to be dealt with.

Jamspur, you also need to understand some fans don't have the same faith in Levy, and as passions run high, its very easy to jump on people and say "they are being ridiculous" , I've seen fans on here make ridiculous comments but because they are normally level headed I won't pick them up on it, as all of us at times will "Panic" a wee bit , especially when you believe the club are repeating certain mistakes.

Currently it may seem all rosy and exciting, but this new team hasn't played a competitive game , we have a fair amount of players who may settle, may not, a lack of options in certain positions and also an alarmingly lack of creativity so not everyone will be hugely optimistic.

I suspect the champions league places will come down to tight margins again, therefore starting the season well and maintaining that form is key, as we don't have the experience of the goons or chavs, These teams can catch up (as we know), we're again building a new team and Bale looks to be off, yet its fine to be excited, but its also fine to cautious or a tad "negative" as sometimes being negative is realistic,.

Anyhow we all want the same thing, which is success, and if that happens, , the worst thing any fan can do is say "i told you so", as when someone is excited or negative, its essentially both for the same reason, passion about the club, and that's the most important thing for all of us to remember.

I have faith in AVB, as a fan I was more frustrated with Levy as from an outsider looking in, it didn't look like Levy had faith in AVB with not signing Moutinho and a striker.

This is what I found frustrating, but fair play to Levy he seems to be backing him now.

I can understand how frustrating it must be for you but as Boss has said we all want the same thing - success.

I stand by the central defence point tbh. To say we aren't still weak there is premature. Verts is still injured, Kab has little more than 45mins in a year. Leaving Dawson as the only fit cb.
Last season we had Defoe (before Ade signed) were we weak up top too? Of course we were.

If capoue signs then we'll be better, but he is a mid by all accounts. Sign alderwiereld and I'll be we'll happy.
If we can run out f CBs in preseason then we can during the season too. Anyone here want to see Livermore and fryers at the back in march?

I don't particularly want to see Livermore in the team again, let alone in defence.

I am one of the revolting, which many have gathered already. I have little faith in Lewis/Levy for many reasons.
They are clearly money man and worship at the house of greed.
As J Greaves has already said this is arguably our worst period since the Great Depression for winning anything .
Maybe we all support teams for different reasons but for me Spurs has been about Glory, nothing else. ( yes I am an old romantic)
