Before we all go nuts over baldy remember we had a similar situation with arnesen and Chelsea came in and ruined it. We need to keep hold of him, and AVB for that matter
Totally agree. It's just a shame there's only 2 or 3 weeks left... just as he's getting into his stride! Really excited to see who's left to join us after AVB said there will be more. I get the feeling that there's still about 4 players coming in.
. Agreed. There was a high profile transfer a year ago which we failed to get over the line owing to an internal balls up. That situation will never happen with Baldini. The guy is the best thing that has happened to the club for years.
Dinamo Zagreb's DOF has just claimed that we've agreed a deal with them for Alen Halilovic, apparently. That already happened earlier in the window and talks with the player broke down though, so I'm not sure why this is starting up again. Perhaps we're going to come to a compromise? The player will stay with them for the rest of the season, whatever happens.
I fear for the PL if new WHL gets built. You know ENIC will near die before allowing the financials of new WHL to destroy the consolidation of the squad at the business end of the PL table.
'What's happened to the 'naysayers'? Well I was one of them, and nothing's happened to me, except I'm a few days older I'm delighted at the news of the Dawson and Kaboul recovery. I stand by everything I said though. It seems I was wrong about Kaboul, but we'll see if he starts against Palace, and how well he does. Re Dawson, if the club won't tell us anything, then as outsiders we can't know if he's fit or not. I'm certainly a lot more optimistic than I was, but it's been clearly touch and go with Kaboul, and also is with JV too. I don't think it's good practice to run your CB levels down to such an extent. We're also still weak at LB. We'll know a lot more as to how well the club have done after the Palace and Swansea games. So far I think they've done well, but there's a lot gonna happen twixt now and early Sept I think.
Tony cottee is currently doing a Q&A for sky sports on twitter. Someone asked who Arsenal should go for if they can't get suarez. he answered "Defoe, he's an Arsenal fan!"
We have two Arsenal fans at the club and Defoe is definitely not one of them. Care to take a guess at who the two are ?? One from the past was Jonnie Jackson. He would scream his head off when the news came through on the team bus that Arsenal had scored.
Seriously: Tom Carroll? About the right age (does he come from London?) to be a gooner. It was popular in the 2000s. Assuming Jake Livermore's dad set him right. I'll go out on a limb and say Nacer Chadli too.
Livermore's definitely not a Goon. Someone's got his quote about scoring against Barcelona in their sig. After he'd scored the equaliser in a pre-season 1-1 draw at Wembley, an interviewer asked him, "What's it like to score against the best team in the world?" "Score against the best team in the world? I play for them," was his answer.
I didn't know about this until we drew Charlton at home in the FAC a couple of years ago and he Went public on it. Turns out he was giving it large about Arsenal so often that when Arsenal conceded,Clive Allen sprinted down the coach to where Jackson was sitting and yelled " stick that in your pipe and smoke it" .
hopefully they are both out on loan, I can't guess, it would be too much of an insult if I got it wrong.
Oh yeah - of course. I have signatures turned off. I knew there was a reason I had a soft spot for Livermore - great response!
