We can't be that picky, if he were without flaws we wouldn't stand a chance of signing him. But guarantee he'd be better than Henderson and Allen
The only thing with Eriksen is if he is that good and available so cheaply, why are no Champ League teams interested in him? Doesn't mean he's not good and is probably an improvement but just wonder if there is something that top class scouts see that have put them off that we haven't.
don't second guess it guys. 3 league medals, total elader of the pack, wants to move, one year elft on contract and will resign. turning down some clubs... frankly there are not injury concerns and honestly if he turned out to be a "bit better then benayoun" rather than a "a world class player" the 15mil would still be a bargain.
I don't think he would even cost 15 million. He's on his final year and wants to leave. Should be able to get him for around 10million pounds.
I "heard" a long time ago (ie beofre RHC started his i can't tell you what my mate won't tell me stuff) that eriksen was on for only 8mil to us. that's gone away. I just cannot believe that this one would be ignored if these prices were anywhere near the real price. 20mil lfc can't afford... 10 mil? thats only downing and spearing. unless my theory is right of course....
It's pretty infuriating tbh, We really need some decent signings. We aren't top 4 quality, and those who think we are/stand a chance will be severely disappointed come the end of the season. We're not better than Arsenal or Spurs, we're simply not.
Its very frustrating. We started the summer really well wrapping up four players before the window officially opened which we were all pretty happy with. Some would think we are being greedy considering that but the fact is, BR said afterwards that the squad was sorted and he was going to be concentrating on bringing in a couple of first teamers now. Where are they then...? Obviously, Henri Ryan was one of them which fell through, who was the other?
I've said this so many times now I'm boring myself. Squad players are relatively easy to get, ready-made first teamers aren't. I'm sure they've been working hard to get the right players but this isn't a footie manager game. Just because you identify a player you want and have the money doesn't mean you're going to get him. That all sounds a bit condescending, sorry. All I'm saying is, it's not that easy to get that type of player- I'm sure we're trying, but we all have to be ready to accept that it might not happen.
This is true, and it is not even because we dont have CL. Arsenal have missed out on a few targets, United have missed out on Fabrigas.
Yeah, I realise that and wasn't saying the club aren't trying but that doesn't stop it being very frustrating.
Saw a Muniain rumor, would be a lot like Coutinho for me. Someone who had such high potential, fell off ( for whatever reason), but the quality is there and might be a steal. Under Bielsa 2 years ago, Muniain, De Marcos, Susaeta, Llorente, etc were playing some cracking stuff.
Don't know much about him, Bluff, but do we need another Coutinho? Surely the task now is to strengthen the first team by bringing in players who are better than the ones we have in certain positions. I think we're short of steel and that's where we need to be looking.
Sorry, Coutinho for me is an AM/SS, Munian is 100% a winger or SS ( much better out wide). Crafty, nifty, nice touch on him and at only 20-21 has a lot of time ahead of him. He would also suit what we are trying to play here.
Saint totally agree about Steel, Spurs just bought Paulinho and Capoue this summer, their CM's are going to boss some teams around. Would love us to make a cheeky bid for Mulumbu and a mascherano type player but with better passing technique in Banega.
The Celtic game showed me that we're still going to be susceptible to being bullied out of the game by a strong side. I think we have a lot of talented players now but we desperately need to complement that with some physicality.
Completely agree there, there are plenty of big men who can play as well or at least players who aren't afraid to bang and can play the ball along the deck. I really really worry about the trust and faith shown in Joe Allen at CM, just feel our CM is not very balanced at all ( same with LB for me).
Think we're looking at sixth in the league at best this season, fifth if we have a good run. Champions League footie is miles away from us right now, we're nowhere near good enough. That's a gradual improvement on last season at least, so next year as long as we keep BR in charge we should be looking for another improvement and at the CL as the next step up. A run at the league title is probably 3-4 years off unless we fluke it or other teams drop points.
