4.25 No Dominion 7-1

I have backed this horse twice this season and on both occasions never been too far away from picking up. I feel today he can get his head in front as he drops in grade a little. It's a good price on offer for him to do so in my opinion.

Disappointing from Dawn Approach, hard to believe that was the same horse who won the Guineas tho, he has been poorly campaigned but I would blame Sheikh Mohammed rather than Bolger, he was never a Derby horse and it was obviously not Bolgers idea to go that route.

Thought Intello was slightly disappointing too although 1m2 is obviously his trip, I would still have expected him to beat Olympic Glory.

I dont think the race lived up to its billing.

Glad Sudirman got me out of jail.

Really, really happy with myself this weekend - I managed to replace the DC jack on my laptop all by myself. A few weeks ago laptop charging was intermittent and I phoned the manufacturer, ASUS, to ask them for a quote to replace the DC jack (the socket where you plug the mains cable in). They said I'd have to send it to them and they would take a look for €95 and give me a quote. Well bollocks to that I thought, and I ordered a replacement jack from t'internet for a fiver. 6 legs (5 metallic which are soldered onto the motherboard and one plastic locator). I then proceeded to live with the intermittent charging until finally on Friday night the laptop wouldn't charge anymore. So yesterday I set about dismantling the laptop to get the motherboard out - some really useful videos on youtube to help with this. The key thing is finding where the buggers have hidden the screws. Anyways, got the motherboard out and desoldered the 5 pins on the old jack, but I struggled like buggery to get it off the board and ended up breaking 4 of the 5 legs. My soldering iron didn't seem to be getting hot enough to get a good melt and release the broken legs. Anyway, having slept on it I decided to have another crack this morning and finally decided to drill out the old legs and solder as they just weren't budging. A 3mm steel drill bit and off I went, 5 new holes in the motherboard and then I soldered in the new jack and carefully built the laptop back together. I honestly thought it wouldn't work but hey presto, when I plugged it in and turned it on the ****er works like a dream. I reckon I've saved myself at least €300 there <ok>

I put my heinz on at SP (my bookie doesn't accept fixed odds multiples) but the last 2 are probably going to go off nowhere near their true price as people just backing the jockey.

Fingers crossed for you mate - I did the heinz so my €57 punt is guaranteed to give me €288.55. Hope the last one wins for both of us, but the 5/1 available earlier is long gone - might be more like 5/4 at the off.

Just goes to show how much money is in computers. And how much people will rip you off for simple little jobs(to them) knowing most people would never attempt to fix it themselves. My old laptop kept overheating, so i got a few quotes. they basically said it was probably dusty, and they would take it apart and clean it all. For £129!!! Obviously no guarantee. **** that, considering the laptop only cost £400. Bought an air spray for 5 quid and sprayed all the places i could and it worked for another 2 years.

Just had my first Cheltenham 2014 bet - 50 on Empiracle to win the Supreme at 20/1. Wish I could get on Betfair, he's probably more like 50s there <laugh>
