Is anyone saying "sell him?"..............I'm certainly not Vincent - I'm just saying he is not as good as some on here are making out and backing it up what I see him doing on the pitch.
"he IS the most naturally talented footballer I have ever seen in the shirt, not even a question mark about that." so Paolo, you never saw Frank Worthington, Chris Waddle, Leighton James or Dennis Tueart which is a shame. I would say Nicky Summerbee and Allan Johnston in their pomp would come before Sess in my list and if Adam Johnson is fit and on form then he can more than match Sess, imo. He could be great.................he is just good, his potential is matched by my frustration. Again, I do not want to sell him..............................
He is the best player I seen in Sunderland shirt for beating his man but come of pal most of the time his final ball or shooting is a joke. I seen loads of games where sess had back up but he didn't pass & then he **** it up.
I don't get why he's getting stick. Last season he was more consistent than Johnson McClean Whickham Graham Larsson Alfie Vaughan Cuellar Kilgallon Bramble There's only mig, rose, fletch and more debatable O'Shea and Gardner(His goals, not performances) had better seasons imo. Fact is last season was shocking. We can't expect him to show consistency when no one around him is either.
Do you think we should get rid of one of (probably the) most gifted footballer we've had in my lifetime (maybe Kieron Brady would've given him a run had he lasted). He plays better with better players. He now has better players (and he also had more good games last season than Adam Johnson so should we sell him as well?)
Sess is not getting stick. I'm just saying his not all that & by the way Fletcher showed consistency for a start.
Your opinion or fact - check this out before answering:- http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/16/ What about his stray passing, what about his red card at a crucial time in the season, what about his atrocious shooting? And again, I do not want him to go, I just do not think he warrants adulation when he is playing at about 60-70% of his ability.
Who is saying sell him like? I said if selling Sess means we get in a player like Insigne then I would sell him. if we don't then I would keep him simple really.
Thought you weren't talking to me I never meant you in particular fella, but there is and has been for a while a general consensus that he's an inconsistent player. Which I agree with but I think we need to ask why? There's plenty of reasons in the detail and besides, if he were consistent he'd have gone to a champions league club instead of us. I'm hoping Paolo can change that. If other players play well around him and he raises his own game I'll be buzzing as he's under contract for his peak years. And a consistent Sess would mean we've got a champions league quality player for his best years. And I did note Fletch's consistency.
You said no one around him show consistency LOL Fletcher did. the way I look at it is if sess is as good as some people think he wouldn't be playing for us.
Well I watched both players all season. Anyone who argues Johnson had more good games than Sessegnon knows nothing about the game. Stats don't tell a great deal really. Ilif a player makes one assist against none for a game then he has a better game? Johnson had more poor games last season than Sessegnon did. And I want both players playing for us this season. Aye his shooting was wirgul. Particularly against Everton and the mags! His confidence in front of goal early in the season was terrible. But he got it back when Di Canio arrived
I did not say Johnson had a better season than that and interestingly enough the stats do not say that either. It seems sess is everyones blue eyed boy and is obviously playing brilliantly in some other dimension I'm not privy to - do you need special rose coloured spectacles? He scored against the toon, but had had at least one howler in that game so again your being selective in your memory. We will just have to beg to differ on this one, however, the red head makes a valid comment - if he were really that good why is he still playing for us? And lets not forget about the red card, ahem.
Yep his shooting was wirgul!! Have you never heard of that? Its almost woeful but the letters are a little further across the keyboard!! As for arguing using his red card. I saw 50 challenges worse than that red card last season and none of them got a yellow. He accidentally stood on someone's foot (ejo, may I add, roled about to try to ensure he got sent off). Never a red card and everyone watching said the same. If a player hits the corner flag with a shot then scores a screamer, how often do people (with any sort of positive outlook) remember or ensure they remember the one that hit the corner flag? Obviously you do schwerer. I agree at yimes hus shootimg was terrinle but hus form over the season all in all was very good for us in a very poor team. Lets see what he can do in a good team as I think he'll be massive for us this season
It was a red card all day long Marcus, the more you looked at it the worse it got - needless, totally needless at a time we desperately needed him - he was not the only one mind - Gardener was a worse culprit. Bloody hell you do wear rose tinted glasses as far as Sess goes don't you, last season miscued shots and poor passes were not a rarity for Sess, he was shocking last season and yes his goals may have kept us up, however if he had done a better job his resulting goals would have had us challenging for the top 10! "I think he'll be massive for us this season " - in all honesty I'm sure something similar was said last season and the season before, leaving that aside I sincerely hope he is massive for us next season as he could be the difference between mid table and top10. Again - I do not want to see him sold - he has potential in abundance
So, whilst telling us he's not all that, you are suggesting that had he had a better season he'd have dragged us from 17th to top 10? Well played sir. For someone who had such a rant over people being critical of the awful Larsson, you ain't exactly backing that up with support for easily our best player.
Well, lets think about this for a moment? If Sess leaves, it will only be a mistake IF there are not 1 or 2 players still to come in with the 'wow' factor? For instance, if we say signed the likes of Fernandes and these 2 Juve lads up front and sold Sess to fund it, that would not be bad at all imo. In fact we would be better off I reckon with better options. However, if we just sell him and bring no-one of that calibre in to replace him then yes, its a **** up of monumental proportions, especially only 4 or 5 days before kick off. So, unlike many, its not the fact that Sess is going (if he really is of course) iots who is coming in? I would not have been as upset at Bruce if he had brought in a replacement for Bent when he sold him. Players come and go. Its a fact of life but its rather who you bring in that dictates how good or bad you really are. Both Liverpool and Spurs will sell their prize assets this summer imo but with the money they recoup, they will strengthen and bring better depth to their squads. Rooney may well leave Man Utd but they will replace him with equal or better.
