I went with a very few others to the Hudders protest but I do not think this issue is one to get so worked up about so when you mention we a few apathetic fans please check your facts or some may think you are an unintelligent opinionated prick.Hope this helps the debate

The fact that it's become massive news not just locally but nationally and even internationally shows how laughable everyone agrees it is, apart from the select few on here of course.

I find it odd that the founder of the Tigers' History thread who was previously so proud of the club's history, is now happy for our club to be consigned to history.

I just think if we all calmed down a bit and considered it on merit 'Hull City Tigers' is a bloody good name.
Just ask yourself what are the ways we all refer to the club either on here or conversationally? ... We call it "City", "The Tigers" or "Hull City." So the name "Hull City Tigers" incorporates all of those.

The name "Hull City Association Football Club" must never be forgotten and in my eyes will always be our true official name, but it isn't even the name we now use for our own club.

Also I've always felt we don't make enough of our iconic nickname. It's on the badge, but I'm proud we're called the Tigers and if you're proud of something then why not flaunt it.

How's it iconic when there's loads of clubs with the name Tigers?

It's as used as "City" is.

I can see what you're saying, but as we already use the names, why change?

Why not leave them but push the nickname in it's own right? The Tractor Boys is one example, Hartlepool and the Monkey Hangers for me is another good example of utilising what you've got while still respecting the fans and tradition that are known to sell. There's no evidence the name change will improve our brand, so far it's associated us with contempt, scorn and ridicule.

Of course it's massive news and there is always a massive negative reaction to anything new, but that doesn't mean everything new is wrong.

Your last sentence first misrepresents my opinions and then becomes completely inaccurate.
First I have always said I respect the name Hull City Association Football Club and will always regard it as our official name, but I also think it's far preferable to be known as "Hull City Tigers" than "Hull" - which we are currently known as nationally and internationally whether you admit it or not.

Finally to say I am; "happy for our club to be consigned to history." is too ridiculous to even justify a considered answer.

First we had Phil Brown's team talk at Man City.

Then we had the Bullard version of it.

    Now we have this.

Three 'iconic events' which the ignorant football world outside EY will identify us with.

    Thanks Dr Allam.

It won't be Hull City Tigers, Craig. It'll be Hull Tigers.

I think it's correct to say our 109-year-old name will be consigned to history.

Well you don't seem unhappy about it...

In response to your first paragraph, yes the media call us Hull but they're wrong. Just like a lot of companies write Humberside on our post and they're wrong too. Doesn't mean we should just ditch the proper name.

I suppose it doesn't offend me to change the name because I think this will be the trend in future whether it starts with us or some other club.
I'm not against change if it results in a name that more accurately represents the words we actually use today to refer to our club.

What would be upsetting is if another club without our history re-branded to incorporate 'Tigers' in their name and became commonly known as "The Tigers".

I am happy to accept that people outside the East Riding call us "Hull". I don't always say "Grimsby Town" or "York City". In Hull we are more offended by it because Hull FC is usually called Hull.

I am with you there Craig.
change is inevitable and the sooner these muppets that are scared of change realise it, the better.
.. it will be a shame if another team became known as The Tigers and we missed a trick.

I know that's the plan Stan, but for me keeping the word 'City' is where we should draw a line in the sand. I am against "Hull Tigers" but I believe "Hull City Tigers" works for the reasons I've mentioned.

This really surprises me Craig. The few others, that support the name change, don't interest me in the slightest as they're just the usual suspects that go against the majority,by default(why do they do that ? it's so ****ing transparent and worse, why do people take the bait so easily ?).

The vast majority are massively against the change, that's very clear,so i would have thought you might at least, respect the wishes of your peers, and support us. Maybe your afraid of reprisals from the Allams,or they might start doubting our love for them ?

Really don't understand you on this mate. Get the **** on side !

The Allam's have already changed it outside "somewhere" (- is it Hull or the UK?).

From Mr Allams quotes, the "City" part has gone everywhere but Hull, and it'll go in Hull next year.

What will they do when their "marketing" proves a failure? Usually these kind of people thrash around for something crazier.
