I have to disagree with that completely. To me, Bruce Dickinson and Steve Harris are two of the finest lyricists and song writers in metal.

Speaking of expanding auditory canals, has someone else here been "introduced" or warmed up to genres based on video games?

I remember playing Mafia: The city of Lost Heaven almost 10 years ago now, and driving around this fictional US city in the 30s, various genres of Jazz would play depending on what part of town you were driving. European/Gypsy Jazz if you were in Little Italy etc... But the point is, that whole soundtrack of 20s-30s Jazz was gold.

I listened to metal quite a bit when I was younger, but it was always the more "melodic" kind of metal a la Megadeth, as opposed to Slayer etc.

Although I have an ability to completely tune out of the lyrical content and just consume the music as a whole. Otherwise I'd agree that most metal is thematically and lyrically quite over-the-top and even childish.

Oh and don't diss Folk and Country music <whistle>. These are the type of genres everyone around you jokes about and you never give it a chance. There's too much variation and innovative styles in it to just dismiss the genre as a whole.

It's an interesting song, a bit of a critique on commercialism of that time.
