Just to keep some perspective here they are actually changing from Hull City A.F.C. (with nickname The Tigers on the badge) to Hull City Tigers. The only bit being dropped is A.F.C. so the comparison to us changing from United to Magpies isnt really a true reflection although i agree that any change to a traditional team name is never going to be universally popular. Not that this really seems to bother the fans of Salford mind ha ha

I voted I don't care. Why? Because it doesn't matter if they're called the Hull City Motherfcking Whore Murdering Gangster Martians, everyone on the fcking planet will call them Hull. And there is no conversation happening anywhere in the World that results in someone saying "wait...you said Hull, but are you talking about the awesome Hull City Tigers?"

If Newcastle are playing Hull, no-one thinks its' fcking ice hockey. These owners need to pull their heads out of their ar$e$. Baffles me to the very core how these people ever get money in the first place. But then if football had been popular in elitist Victorian times there'd be the same craic happening everywhere. Wouldn't be Chelsea v Man U - it'd be The Kings Road Toppers against The Salford Ironcocks. Or summat.

Unlikely mate, with that bloke it`s more likely to be the Newcastle Trainers (or Sports, or Direct).

I hope for your sake it doesn`t give him ideas.

Locally, they will keep the word 'City' but they will be known as Hull Tigers internationally.

Don't ask me how that's going to work!

Have a few beers did you?

I'm sure you couldn't care less for Hull 'City' Tigers but you're kind of missing the point.

Were you upset when they changed SJP to Sports Direct Arena and then offered the stadium naming for cash?

Of course, most people outside of the media still called it SJP but it's far from the point.

signed the petition 'cause if someone changed our name I'd be pissed. We've been able to attract interest in english football for long enough, we don't need to be Americanised. We're a club not a gimmick

I'd prefer not but in all honesty I don't care. Clubs just do as they please.

It's not too bad, but our club is actually a United club. I think if it has historical meaning, then you shouldn't f*** with it. "Manchester Red Devils" is fine, because when the hell did they "Unite"?

Similarly, Hull's an abomination of a City and they shouldn't be allowed to use the term, except in passing reference to another City they hope their loose conglomeration of local businesses, millions of people and major connecting roads can one day emulate... when the World Nuclear War reduces said actual Cities of the country to ash...

They should just be "The Hull Tigers".

Firstly, we was given the title of City by Royal Charter centuries ago.

Secondly, have you actually stayed in Hull for any length of time to actually form a proper opinion of our City? Or have you formed an opinion by reading all the tin pot surveys conducted by people who've never set foot in Hull?
Anyway, you've given your opinion which you're entitled to do and thank you for taking the time to read and post.

Thank you to all those who've got behind us and signed the petition.

Good luck for the coming season <cheers>

Yes, of course I've been to Hull, and unfortunately it doesn't agree with me. Now that's perfectly fair for you to love the **** out of it and defend it, and it's poxy sea-life centre (which, granted is significantly better than Tynemouth's effort... but still). I have nothing against the people of Hull, or it's football team, just the crap-hole you live in! <ok>

I'm sure there are enough people who think Newcastle is a ****-hole. Obviously not as **** as Hull, but such weirdos without taste probably do exist.

Thank you for the welcome and yes, I agree, we all defend where we come from, as it should be'

Really hope your owner and Kinnear don't mess the club up, it's got a great tradition, they'll leave the club one day but the fans will always remain. Unfortunatly that's what we're fighting right now, for our history and tradition.

Sorry Hull wasn't to your liking, you probably wasn't pissed enough <cheers>
