15th place in the Championship is our level, our worst since our return 4 years ago,Millen has had his year and avoided relegation, well done for that, yet in my opinion he has still not ticked all the boxes but deserves to be our manager,just.. How ambitious should we be and how long should Millen have if things go tits up..? I think a top 6 finish,10 games and a minimum of 20 points or the boot for Millen...
I'd say give him the whole season, or if we're 20th-24th at Christmas then change of management. Personally I quite like Milly, certainly seems to of steadied the ship. Let's see what he can do with a pre-season and hopefully a much more injury free season
I'm not the biggest Millen fan in the world but he did get us through a bad year after Copput and did succeed in keeping us up at a higher level, where several BRFC managers failed at a lower level,he's earned his chance at another crack, but we need to watch things carefully.: David Jones got the sack at Cardiff for reaching the play-offs in 4th place...
yo wiz, been on the other but cant log in. for next season 2011 /12 I think it will be really tight, this seaon past there were 8 teams in contention for the most part. NEXT SEASON it looks like it will be 3 / 4 strong contenders and about 8 teams like forest/burnley/leeds were this season.....so perm 6 from 12. Where would I like BCFC to finish........top 6, where do I think they will...at the moment...12th.
"everybody seems to be getting better managers. and you still got millen loooooool" according to you Buckle (under pressure) is "not the best man for the job" looooooooooooooooool.
somerset, will do. banksy, buckle is better than penney therefore an improvement. you still got millen
Millen deserves a chance to have a full pre-season with his own team. Wize - I do think getting rid of him if he does not have 20 points after 10 games is a bit harsh!! In terms of what we should push for - surely promotion (us and about 20 other teams in the Championship!!)
You didnt want Buckle, ever, Millen has proved himself in the championship. Buckle is a league 2 manager. and you have still got Twollope and paterson and Penney to pay yet.
.........and Foyle! Ambition tempered by reality. As things stand at the moment I'd say that if Millen can keep you in and around the top 6 he'll be doing well.
Millen deserves a chance to have a full pre-season with his own team. Wize - I do think getting rid of him if he does not have 20 points after 10 games is a bit harsh!! smh....would agree to a point. What is often missed is where the 20 points are coming from, if after 5 games we are undefeated and have played the likes of Reading Brum Whu leeds and Leics and have 9 points then I would say 18 -20 would be fair....should we just have 5 points from these 5 teams then I would say 14 points would be fair after 10....BUT till we see the fixtures we cant really say. It was the same throughout last season....we were just average, finished up average and a lot of dispair came we had poor patches against better teams.
Millen should be given a shout, however by xmas if it was/is at bad as the season gone, change must be made. Remember it has been a poor show this season.
All he has achieved is 15th in the Championship, less than Tinman,Johnson,Coppell with Reading or Wilson with Barnsley,he's not proven anything... He,himself believes in setting targets of 10 games,he has had a 7 years and a full season and 10 games as manager and has become a hero without doing anything,so a full pre-season and 10 games,if he is doing well brilliant,if he's failing boot him out and take it from there.
He,himself believes in setting targets of 10 games, the problem with setting a specific number of games is they do not always relate to circumstances. WIZ on your premise of first 10 20 points for example, QPR DIDNT MANAGE THAT and in the past few years 2 a game would have walked the CC. FIRST 10 games, I would be happy with 13 points irrespective of who we play. CERTAINLY NO MORE THAN 3 DEFEATS!!!!! AND AT LEAST 3 WINS.
I am more than happy with things so far, Milly is making all the right noises at the moment (not so much action) he has stated we will listen to offers for players who in my opinion can be better replaced and his targets seem ok, (we aint never gonna get them all whatever) Bottom line is he is seeing it pretty much the way I am seeing it so I can concur with him at the moment. No business done yet as such, but I am feeling optimistic about the coming season. I think Keith can come good!
