Not a memorable game from a Rovers perspective, but for Scunthorpe, a missed opportunity. It was a lacklustre performance which highlighted our injury problems, and although the whole team gave 100% effort, it was sheer luck that we didn't lose. To compound our problems, we lost Parkes after 15 mins! To be fair Lockyer did very well alongside McChrystal (who was my MOTM). The defece was very solid, but we allowed Scunthorpe to dominate in the air, as well as win the second balls, and the third balls as well for that matter. JJOT was not influential by any stretch of the imagination, and was bypassed too often, especially in the first half. Santos hardly touched the ball after he came on, Harrison had a shocker (he's only young in fairness, just an off day, perhaps), and Clarkson didn't look fully fit IMO. Overall the only positives to come out of that game were the clean sheet, and Lockyer's encouraging performance, because we didn't give their keeper a shot to save. Still optimistic though. Nice tribute to Uncle Albert and Colin Howlett BTW.
I'm happy with the point didn't expect anymore then that IMO and yes nice to have a clean sheet considering Parkes came off and Harding filled that position for the rest of the game still lacking any punch up front can't wait for Harrold and Brunt to come back then hopefully we might start seeing some goals
The season starts when a few more of the old pros return. Any points at this stage are worth having. I think Scunny look quite a strong side for this level.
Disagree that Harrison had a shocker not his best game but as with all of the team he was completely knackered at the end of the game which is why Ward took him off. Agree McChrystal was MOM (Rovers not Scun) and Lockyer was solid filling in for Parkes who I hope is okies. The reason JJ was ineffective in the first half was positioning up front with Richards in the second half Ward made him drop into midfield to stiffen up the middle many a time he picked up crucial balls to stem Scunthorpes flow from midfield to attack. Not a great game to watch very little quality however Santos was not bad he is going to be a good player has some nice touches and works hard to pick up the ball and bring other players in the game. We need to get behind the team over the next two months which is going to be difficult to watch given the amount of injuries our squad has. A point deserved for effort if not quality, Scunthorpe were the better team and should have taken all three points, although did not do enough in the final third to trouble Mildenhall (other than on three occassions) there loss is our gain. only 2 or 3 chris .well i was working today and didn't hear the commentary on our game but by the reports we were robbed by the ref sending our captain off in the first half .same old **** refs in this division, nothing changes does it and rovers are a point closer to us now
Need our more experienced players, especially our strikers back asap. We lacked the tempo that we showed in the 2nd half v Watford. Still pretty solid defensively but we got away with a couple of individual lapses yesterday. Harrold and Brunt - get well soon!
