Wasn't a very good quality stream so i didn't get a look edit: whats with ass? are you an american or a northerner?
Well that'll teach me for daring to dip my toe in the emo camp. ****ing doom mongers Ramsey's out to get COYG this time for all the negativity. Watch out COYG .......
All the logic in the world said we would lose that match. they have a better team, better manager etc. I thought we'd get hammered, not beat them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSkKaV1r2IA Koscielny lost the physical battle, was outmuscled, Fabianski could have done better as well.
I'm never listening to you again Kyle you ****ing emo In all seriousness though, I must admit I thought the same before the match. We looked defensively suspect in the Emirates cup and I thought City would expose it. Just watching the re-run of the game now and we have played a very assured game, although there are still some question marks defending the area just outside our box.
I think the defending was actually one of the strong points along with the counter-attacking. The main problem, for me, was that we rarely had a run of more than 5 seconds with the ball, which left all the rest of the time for them to pressure us. If that is going to be the case going into the season, where we are dominated by the top sides and just look for the counter, no matter how good our defensive pairing is it will slip goals eventually.
Though I'm basing this in the first 65 minutes of the game where it looked like we were getting dominated in possession, don't know how the rest of it went.
Yep I thought we defended well, but it was the area just around our box that I'd like to have seen us put more pressure on, not allowing City to feed balls into the box. I don't mind us setting up to play on the counter against the top sides, we seem to do it quite well. I'd rather that than get torn apart in defence as we did in the first half of last season. After we handed that game to the spuds we really seemed to sure up and stopped making silly defensive mistakes. One other thing that I've noticed we've been doing well is playing long balls in behind the defense. We've created a few good chances and scored some goals from pinpoint balls over the top. It's an area in our game that we've never really exploited before, instead preferring to play through the middle, but sometimes the direct route is what's needed
Who knows, maybe it was a tactic to let City play around the box, and defend and deal with it when they threw the ball into the box. A lot of teams sometimes do that against us, let us play our football out and around the box, but once we go in, they're all over it and shut us down.
the premiership is wide open for once this season......nobody can say they are going to be in the top 3 for certain....
I have to (sort of) disagree. I can't see past Chelsea winning the league and Citeh coming 2nd, but then it's a mad brawl for 3rd-down between us, Manchester United, Spurs, the 2 Liverpool sides, you and maybe even Southampton.
