Hooper news on Twitter: "CH - Gary has been taken for a precautionary X-ray. He got a whack on the shin, it was an awkward challenge."
Great news that it's not soft tissue. If he's got a small fracture that would put him out or while, but nowere near as badly
CH on Hooper again: "CH - We'll wait and see what the X-ray shows but hopefully it's just a whack which will be a bit sore rather than anything more serious."
CH's post match interview should be on Radio Norfolk any minute, unless I missed it. In other news, Seb was interviewed as club captain and said that he is going to play in the U21 match on Monday and may feature against Everton.
Hopeful news then on Seb. Don't want to rush him into too quickly though. I would be confident with Turner and Bennett at CB for Everton. Would be nice to have Bassong back though. He helps to link up the defence and midfield better than our other CBs.As for the game. It was very encouraging, Johnson seems to be right on his game and thats what you want coming out off your last pre season game. Him and Tettey will start as the DMs I guess. Wes seemed to lose the ball alot but he beat a player and found some space that then lead to Johnson's second. All in all good showing, hope Hooper is ok. Didn't look like much but they can be deceiving. Really looking forward to Everton now!
I went to the game in the end..... it was great. Just sat right next to the panathinikos supporters, god they were annoying. Almost kicked off a coupe of times especially after the second goal went in. Here were some NCFC bovver boys who made a pont of relocating seats at half time goad them. Anyway, Wes was poor and gave the ball away loads, Tettey was great and passing pretty good and putting in some vital challenges. Redmond is class act and has a bright future, thought Hooper was a bit poor and looks a it errrrr chubby. RvW and Fer linked up well again and we were much better in the wide positions.
I would say Hooper is a fair way off full fitness (quite apart from the knock today). Tina will maybe say different but I think I'm right in saying that he had an injury which set him behind even before Celtic's pre-season; he was only really back in contention for their second Champions League qualification match, added to which with the uncertainty about his future he didn't feature much in anything. I don't agree with Kemp saying "bit poor"; bit off the pace yes, poor definitely not.
Re Hooper. He's well built, he is a wee bit bigger than he was last season just now, but he'll not shift much of it. He got pelters off rival fans because of his weight, but I think they were just extremely jealous of his talent and good looks. It doesn't affect what he's there to do, trust me. Have I mentioned his lovely smile yet?
After Grant Holt's success, I have no qualms about a chubby striker. For what's its worth if I don't think he is, and if he was the fitness team will make sure his fitness is up there with all the other players.
Apparently, despite not having the No. 9 shirt, he still wants to be known as "The Pieman" ...............
