History and sport? Started the worldwide industrial revolution and most popular team in the world's most popular game. As for architecturally, Liverpool is no better than Manchester. Especially if you include Salford Quays.
I'll give you history. It'll be all you've got now SAF has retired to the members bar. Sporting success is cyclical btw. Liverpool had their turn, you've had yours. I expect London teams to dominate the next decade.
The old "cyclical" chestnut. Liverpool fans were trotting that one out 10 years ago. As for London teams Chelsea are like a soap opera, Arsenal are only concerned about balancing the books and Tottenham are perennial nearly-men.
Yes, I'd love to love in a place where people get stabbed over postcodes, or a place that is best known for a pasta-shaped motorway system.
Chelsea won the Champions League, Premier League & F.A. Cup. Arsenal qualify for the CL every season. Tottenham are improving year on year. I get the feeling you're a little biased against the London teams.
Chelsea - pretty underwhelming for their expenditure. Arsenal - too big to consider finishing 4th a success. Tottenham - how can they be getting better when they qualified for the CL 3 years ago but have missed out in the 3 consecutive seasons since?
I don't mind the London teams. I was pleased when Chelsea won the CL and enjoy watching Spurs. Plus they always seem to do us a favour against our title rivals. Arsenal fans can be a bit holier than thou (we do things the right way, our football is better than everyone else's etc), but I dont dislike them any more. That's reserved for the bindippers, the bitter blues and dirty Leeds - and the latter have slipped off the radar too.
