Currently trying to figure out just how Cirrus Des Aigles is 4/6 over in France today and not about 1/6. Optimum trip and receiving weight. Even if he isn't as good as he was he should surely have far too much for these!

    Afternoon chaps and PN :)

My picks have already been mooted on here so something of a re-affirmation - Sennockian Star and Telescope at Haydock, Baby Bush in the Sweet Solera at Newmarket, Relight My Fire in the 3-45 Redcar (sing along you Take That fans) and at the Disney meeting hoping that Broxbourne and Racy can overcome the unfamiliar jockey factor.

Well done Hawkeye with the first comp winner Nine Realms <applause>

Broxbourne couldn't. The Kiwi rider must have been told she was riding Shergar, not just competing in the Cup, ridiculously dropped out he only got going in the last furlong and was flying when it was too late. I shouldn't be surprised, I was well aware of the pitfalls before betting, and still did. More fool me!

Well done with Homeric Old Moon - I still feel your double is more wish than promise :)

"Slipped bend after 3f and behind, still plenty to do on inside from 2f out, good headway final furlong, finished well (op 9/2)"

They actually hit the rail on the turn, which is why it was so far back.

Great debut from CASUAL SMILE to come second. The Balding 2yos usually come on for their first run so the future bodes well for her.

First things first I'm very happy that the potentially horrid incident has left Educate unscathed. He would have absolutely pissed in had he got a clear run. Finished 3rd barely off the snaff. Murtagh was taking care of him after that stumble but realised he could take 3rd with ease and did so.

SMP he needs the cover to settle.

Unluckiest loser of the day? He would've won with a clear passage.

Well done to whoever it was that tipped David Livingston and commiserations to those foolish enough to lump on the odds-on Telescope. We now know that he is a Group 3 horse this year. Given the trainer’s reputation with older horses, I expect that he will be staying in training next year and will be in everyone’s Ten To Follow 2014 lists.

With Cirrus Des Aigles failing in a Group 3 in Deauville where he had no Group 1 penalties (second to Petit Chevalier), there has to be a suspicion now that he is not the horse of old. I am expecting that his next race will be the Prix Dollar on the Saturday of Arc Weekend, provided that the going is soft enough. If he is going to come over for the Champion Stakes, I expect that there will be a going proviso attached to that also. They definitely cannot pack him off to stud!

I trust that everyone is getting made up at the Mark Johnston Benefit at Ascot. Simple formula: field size restricted to twelve and good prize money so supply loads of horses.

England’s bowlers are getting them out of a hole again, although every run after the first fifty that Chris Rodgers scores is thanks to Graeme Swann. He dived across from second slip and shelled what would have been a catch for first slip Alistair Cook off Stuart Broad’s bowling.

The 2-45 race at Deauville tomorrow interesting. Had Dawn Approach duly beaten Toranado at Goodwood, he would surely be odds on for this. As it is he is 9-4 jt fav with Intello. Intello has an obvious chance, unbeaten apart from going down by 1/2L in heavy going in the French 1000 guineas.

Declaration of War is 10-1 but there seems no reason he should overturn the placings with DA.

Olympic Glory is especially interesting at 20-1. He finished 3/4L second to Dawn Approach over 6f on good in last years Coventry and has been campaigned mainly over tomorrow's 7f (plus 109 yds). He may be the value bet.

Of the others, Elusive Kate is a bit of a Deauville specialist, but Aljamaaheer wouldn't seem to have the class for this.
