Hi RI, I've just had the pleasure of having to read this entire thread. From what I can see you seem to have some issues with people showing compassion.

You have mentioned several other sports but as this is an F1 thread they are some what irrelevant. There are boards for other sports if you wish to bring up problems there. McLaren may wish to stop racing in Sri Lanka, but that won't really do much as they are not currently racing there.....

You have made some interesting points, but you have also made some repetitive points which where of little relevance to start with.

    Thanks

I don't think anyone is disputing your viewpoint, you just appear reluctant to accept that others differ from yours.

If it makes you feel any better, I won't sign it as I have already stated that nothing speaks louder than money, F1 is a business and Bahrain will go ahead despite all the posturing. The welfare of the people has long been forgotten about and not just in Bahrain, you can pick any country on the planet and that statement would be true, but constantly berating someone because their view differs from yours is a waste of time and energy. As Winston Churchill once said in his blog; "Never try to reason the predjudice out of a man. It wasn't reasoned into him, and cannot be reasoned out." (it was really Sydney Smith)

And I have only bothered this much as I am on nights and it's very quiet!

Miggins.....an apology, I'm not saying you're prejudiced, I've just never been able to use that quote before and this seemed like the right time.

No one has put forward a reason why they believe a person should sign the petition but a few people have put forward complaints about discussing the issue on the grounds that other countries, their politics, and other sports are not relevant to them.

The fact that F1 cars use fuel sourced from countries that have obnoxious regimes is not relevant on the grounds that it is inconvenient.

People voicing derogatory opinions regarding the abilities of women is on topic for F1 because it is "historic and scientific", but questioning the justification for singling out one particular race event is some how off topic.

Complaining about a sport event because of the politics of that country and then stating that sport is above politics is just laughable.

Sri Lanka's treatment of their people is off topic because they play cricket. China is ok because we but most of our goods from there. Saudi Arabia is OK because we need their petrol. Brazil is Ok because the guys get armed body guards.

And the petition will be sent to who?

once again you are talking Cricket on an F1 forum, go to the cricket forum and whine there, if you don't want to sign the petition, fine, don't, but don't come on here with your sri Lanka is the same as Bahrain bullshit, the Tamils weren't unarmed protesters getting shot, as I recall the Tamil Tigers were a guerilla army just as culpable of warcrimes as the Sri Lankans, the only reason the Tamils aren't being accused of warcrimes is because they lost.

And you have no idea of any petitions, regarding any other political topic from Mynamar to china to the Tamils themselves, that I may have signed, or any charitable donations I make to their people as it has absolutely no connection to being on an F1 forum, which every poster has tried to inform you.

As to my 'derision' of women, I can assure you they hold us in probably worst regard, have you ever heard of Jo Brand? And anyone who has ever been in the company of more than 1 woman will confirm, a fairly constant mutter of anoyance or derision from their lips is a simple "men!", usualyy followed by a shaking of the head and a tut or two. And I didn't ever say I don't want any women in F1, I said I don't want a woman in F1 JUST BECAUSE SHE IS ONE. If they're good enough, fine. And if you can't see the joke in 'mirrors to do their lipstick in' I feel sorry for you.

If I were you RI, I'd go see a carpenter and see if he can remove the chip that appears to be on your shoulder. And from your fixation with Sri Lanka I'm guessing you're a Tamil.

The unrest in Bahrain is between Sunni and Shia power struggles.

Neither of them think much about the rights of women. Just like you.

Since F1 began in 1950 us British have shot a few people ourselves. Did you not know that?

My views on women here have been of the obvious and scientifically known physiological differences, I don't doubt there bravery or intelligence, just their ability to cope with the physical side of the sport. As to my bantering, I'm guessing you've not been in the company of women much.

As to my knowledge on everything else, that's for other forums that aren't anything to do with F1. I vote because I can, if you condone it, stay silent, that's your choice.

the question is, will the team sponsors see abandoning it as a cheap form of Global goodwill?

I did not realise that you were a scientist researching into how women are inferior.

Women fly fast jet fighter planes. In order for them to qualify they have to pass the same extreme g force test that many men fail.

Driving a f1 car requires other attributes than g force physical strength. Or is that off topic too?

If your views were not so pathetic they would be funny. The sunni and shia tribes in Bahrain can fight for power about who will subjugate human rights of women and we have you doing the same on here.

RI, you say that no one has given a reason why to sign the petition and I wonder if we've been reading the same thread! Many posters have done just that but why don't you explain why people shouldn't sign the petition or why the Bahrain GP should go ahead?

If you disagree with the original post, that would be the normal thing to do, I think. Otherwise, people might get the impression that you just want to wind people up for your own pleasure.

This thread has nothing to do with women.

Please do not be goaded into a diversion Miggins; that is clearly what he/she is trying to do.
Please stick to the topic RI, or go away.
You are not stupid. You fully understand the logic you have been presented with, apart from this irrelevant concern with female drivers. Go and discuss it on the other thread where it is relevant please.

yeah, sorry, he's a COGT, but, because I'm in tune with my feminine side, I decided to turn it into an argument that I knew I'd win.

If people can not get over a disagrement then can I suggest using the ignore function. This is getting out of hand now with very little direction.

Another money inspired decision. When will Bernie realise that People's rights are more important than making millions.

And also thats runied the season. I always love having the season finale at Brazil(Maybe because my 2 fave drivers Lewis and Jenson got sealed there titles there), but now its in India. Should be interesting though I hope we will see Karun in any any car to boost the turnout.(I think Karthikeyan might me out by then)

Team Lotus have said recently that they have "big plans" for Chandhok, although they said in the same statement that Trulli's seat was safe, so I have no idea what they meant by that! They implied they meant more than just the occasional Friday practice session.

Seeing as Karthikeyan is paying for his seat at HRT, I imagine he will still be with them at the end of the season.

I can't see what they mean by "big plans", other than allowing Chandhok to race in the inaugural Indian Grand Prix. The Indians love Karun.

Thats what I thought Forza, although I don't know how well Trulli will take to being told to step aside. (I'm assuming it would be him anyway, Heikki is more valuable in terms of the future, as Trulli will probably retire soon, and Heikki is more appealing for other teams, so they wouldn't want to upset him.). My only other explanation was launching a second team! But something tells me that is very unlikely!

Some kind of Asian base for the team maybe, I can't see them making trulli step aside for a weekend.

Trulli said in F1racing that he wasn't thinking of retiring anytime soon and that he's committed to Lotus.

Yeah I saw that. Mind you, I think what he said in that interview is worth taking with a pinch of salt as he can't be enjoying racing for 20th place each GP.
