Is this just for this season or in the future too, what if we're relegated. Apologies if this is mentioned in the article but the link is no good on my phone.

Everything in the stadium will still be hull city tigers such as the score board and what not which will be annoying enough.

The thing is The Allams never said the TEAM NAME was changing for this season, HDM has misled fans and the national press about this and blown it all out of proportion.

The HDM article on this:

http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Prem...-City-season/story-19642507-detail/story.html

HULL City could have to show that they have consulted fans if they want to change their name for the Premier League, it has been revealed.

The Premier League last night confirmed the club would play as Hull City next season with no change to Hull City Tigers or Hull Tigers, the preferred choices of the club's owners the Allam family.

A spokesman for the League said: “We have not been informed of a change in the name of the actual club, it is the company name that has changed.

"They will still be known as Hull City as far as the Premier League is concerned when results or fixtures are published. We understand the move is more to do with their international reputation."

“If any club wanted to change the club name we would talk to them and see what processes of consultation (with supporters) they had gone through.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, the most interesting part of that article is the final line. We were never consulted at all at any stage because they keeping it in the dark, so how are they going to get themselves out of that one? The Premier League certainly will not allow it without any fan consultation.

Checkmate, Allams.

Yeah I've read it, Allams are taking about the commercial name, Journalist wrongly infers it's the TEAM name that's immediately changing that's were the confusion has come from. Did the HDM actually ask if they applied to change the TEAM name? Poor journalism.

Mr Allam himself says they will be using Hull Tigers as the team name in their communications...unless it's in Hull, where it will be Hull City Tigers...or the local media that have said they will call us Hull City or the national media that will call us Hull...or in fan groups where we can be what we want, so City, The Tigers etc etc

An excellent clear branding policy in action. <ok>

If it is what you say, then why are the Premier league stepping in and telling the Allams they cannot change the name?

Surely if it was just the commercial side bullshit, they would not intervene.

bold part is the most important part .. meaning they knew about the marketing name change , but no such application has even been made to change the football team name ... basically as the allams have always said .... its not "the premier league saves us" ... its "the premier league explains the facts"

"We have not been informed" ... is not saying "your not allowed to do this" .. but they aren't anyway so whats the big deal ?

Okay then, explain this.

If it isn't true, then why haven't the Allams come out and said so? Why have they stayed silent on the matter and let the fans and media vilify them?

Why have they instead released a club statement which tells fans that they can continue to call the club what they want, which heavily implies a name change?

The reason why the Prem have said is because they want to see evidence of consultation with fans before it does. Until then, the Premier League do not acknowledge Hull Tigers and will use Hull City AFC.

probably because they dont realize that our lives are so empty that we drink up the **** that the media spoon feeds us - and we pay them for the privilege.
you can ALL change your names back now hahaha

when the Allams first took over, I tried to warn you all that it was a bad idea.
I was accused of ranting.
If we get relegated, we will get name change back in the championship - then IF we gain promotion again, the PL wont have a say.
ALL that PL rule has done, is delay the inevitable.

It still doesn't instill me with confidence, we've all seen the FA's owners fit & proper test go a bit pear shaped to say the least on more than 1 occasion. Not saying the Allam's are dodgy. Just saying the FA are.

This is brilliant. How will the Allams cope with someone saying no to them, and them not being able to do anything about it?
