Whatever Brady is I don't think (s)he is a threat to any of our girlfriends/wives. (S)he's got to come out at some point though and put us all out our misery/curiosity. Back on topic though - has anyone seen this from the National Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...e-refuse-endorse-Hull-City-Tigers-change.html EXCLUSIVE: Premier League refuse to approve 'Hull City Tigers' name change as chief's attempts cause outrage with fans The Barclays Premier League are refusing to endorse Hull Cityâs controversial name change which has caused outrage among the clubâs supporters.
Good news if true. I'm sure someone mentioned way back in this thread that you had to have the name changed before a certain date in March/April, and obviously the Allams didn't bother with it.
How many people on here ever used the AFC. When asked 'Which team do you support? did you say Hull City or Hull City AFC. I have never used the expression AFC, for most of our history the way we played football in the lower leagues using AFC may have been construed the stand for Amateur Football Club.
Well i aren't going to overreact about the name change and refuse to see the team play like some in the hdm. I'm more annoyed about the fact we was lied to a few months ago and led to believe this wouldn't happen. Hull Tigers to me is too americanised, commercial and tacky...the only way they could make it worse is changing roary to Tony the Tiger and have us all 'Go Get Em Tigers'. What next? We start picking up the ball and running. How long before the forum changes to Not606 Hull Tigers
I would like to share my thoughts on the rebranding of Hull City AFC. The statement issued by the Allams contained the sentence "My dislike for the word 'City' is because it is common. I want the club to be special. "It is about identity. 'City' is a lousy identity. Hull City Association Football Club is so long". So when we market the club abroad we are going to be Hull Tigers which in my eyes bears no relation at all to who we are currently. When investors look at Britain they look at tradition and history. Can you imagine Manchester united being called Manchester Devils, or there being the Liverpool Reds, Chelsea Blues, Stoke Potters, Leeds Whites, Newcastle Magpies etc, you get my drift. What really concerns me is the fact that the Allams seem hell bent on changing our football clubs complete identity, i can seriously imagine that in 10 years time we will be going to the Allam Stadium in Melton to watch Hull Tigers and that doesnt sit well with me at all. The owners go on about international marketing and branding but look at the top 3 clubs in terms of world brands and your talking Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, all 3 teams having no name change or catchy commercial branding. what they all have though is international fame and identity built on years of success, that is what drives investors to look at a potential investment, brand awareness is the key and the only way that Hull City will become a global brand is by continued success on the field (In our case that means a lengthy stay in the Premier league). So if on the off chance you are reading these messages Mr Allam please dont mess with history or tradition, concentrate on building a succesful team on the pitch because with success brings media coverage which brings brand awareness which brings investment.
tiger beer is selling well in thailand even though it is 20% dearer than thai beers. so i suppose the name tiger does sell!!
HDM also refuse the name change and will refer to us as Hull City The club twitter is @hulltigers yet still refers to #hcafc think they need to make their mind up
most people call it HCFC - unfortunately our owners have created a publicity disaster and made themselves and the club an international piss-take
At this moment in time we seem to be a piss take, but what if this genius makes the club millions? Many chants at games are not Hull City AFC based, "we are Hull city, Hull City FC, we're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen." "The tigers," clap clap clap, "the tigers." And of course, "we are 'ull, we are 'ull we are uuuull".

I think this is a real opportunity to keep the name. If the club consult with the fans and 78% are against any name change I cannot see the Premier League approving the change. The Allam's can call the club whatever they want - same way as they let us call the club what we wanted in the statement - but as long as the football authorities support the fans I can see the Allam's giving up.
Dr Allam in a interview in march this year with the fail . Allam says a return to the top flight under Steve Bruce would be 'worth every penny' of his huge investment. "Of course it would be worth every penny, but you can't really put a money value on this," he added. "There is nothing we could do better for the area's reputation and image than getting this club back into the Premier League. When we are in the Premier League, nobody asks 'where is Hull?' "When the club was in the Premier League I used to travel around a lot on business and people would talk about Hull and the fact we had a Premier League team. "It brings many benefits – even to businesses, who suddenly find it easier to recruit managers for their companies because more people are interested in being here. It is very important for the community and the whole area's future. "It is vital for the whole community to have a Premier League club, it is a huge thing for the area." So Dr Allam knows a name change or any image change is nothing compared to getting back to the prem league .Makes me wonder if it is all to do with his spat with the council.
The name change is distracting and divisive in a negative way. The quote that "City is a lousy identity" is an insult to me and generations of City supporters. Have our shouts of "Come on City" etc been lousy? A withdrawal or even an apology is appropriate, Mr Allam. The new name/brand is confusing. If "City" is lousy why include it? The new name also misguidedly mixes the formal name and the nickname. Finally, no longer are we the only English club name that has no letter that can be coloured in. Disaster. Bang goes our USP. UTT.
