Read my earlier post, as it is not about the money. Without trying to patronise, I'm not sure of your age and you may not realise just how big Liverpool are as a European club. They've just spent 20 years in the wilderness of winning out league and not being in the CL is criminal from their point of view. Giving their biggest rival for a CL place a top, quality, 20 goal + striker is guaranteeing another year or two of no CL football.

This window needs either Rooney, Suraez or Bale to move to get that domino effect going
I'm confident we will sign another player before the window closes but its looking like it will happen toward the end of the window now.

he is on a par with Jarvis, 3 goals in 60 odd games. Those 2 are really going to rip it up

Hoof, Carroll head to scampering winger. Scamper scamper cross. Header Carroll goal. Ad infinitum.

You missed the bit where Carroll assaults the centre-half before Kevin Nolan slams it in.

Liverpool are not owned by Liverpool supporters, brought up with their club winning European titles. They are owned by an American businessman. Money talks. That is the bottom line. They can release statements all they like, if the money is right, they are not in a position to bargain with a player clearly too good for them (that's the present Liverpool not one from the past). My age has nothing to do with it, but if you need to know, I'm in my 50s and perfectly aware of how good Liverpool were and how poor their present side compares.

Indeed, I've watched him a couple of times for Nurnburg and a couple of times for Japan and he seems exactly what we need, nippy, direct, happy to take players on, great at both cutting in and slipping cheeky balls through and over the defence and hitting the by-line or whipping crosses in and almost best of all a great dead-ball delivery t'boot. I'd qualify that by saying that I did only see him a few times, so could have just been him at his peak but his stats only seem to back all that up, most assists in the Bundesliga behind Ribery, Lahm and Muller, 5th most accurate crosses per game in Europe and joint 11th most key passes per game in Europe. I will say that he is both not a particularly natural finisher and incredibly lightweight, so he would face the usual examination upon arriving in the league of taking plenty of kicks and shoves, but still, he fits the bill almost to a T and brings almost everything we lack.

That said, £10m is right towards the top end of his value, and there's no indication that we're in for him, he was linked but it seemed either to be an invented story because we already have a couple of Japanese players and he wants to come to the Prem, or we merely put in a little enquiry and did not take it any further. So I don't think this one goes beyond the 'pure fantasy' section. I'd take him in a heartbeat though personally, he'd be Rickie's best friend.

Well we do need a Coutinho type individual (unless Gaston takes the mantle) as we well know......and actually in comparison with some of the sums we've been talking about (and it sounds odd to say this) £10m isn't THAT much........

Osvaldo is still my favourite of the players linked with us so far. I have my reservations about his character, but he's immensely talented and is just what we need.
