I don't think we are financially stable. We haven't posted a profit for years. If Ellis decided to cut his losses and run tomorrow we'd be in some ****e. Had we been relegated last season the same thing as well. Here's a blog from this January on hulls finances... http://www.ambernectar.org/blog/2012/01/citys-accounts-observations/ seems Allam took over the club and promised 30 m plus an extra 10 million to cover existing debts. I'm sure the previous owner sold the club for a quid and wrote of what was owned to him. Had this guy called Coventry instead then Hull City would be in debt and Coventry Eagles not.
But he didn't mate, that's the point here, surely? Ellis converted our debt to shares, meaning anyone buying Ellis shares DOES NOT buy the debt. If Ellis went tomorrow, we'd be an attractive proposition, fortunately for us, we have Ellis, and he will remain, hopefully for a very, very long time.
remember how upset everyone was over "The Sunderland Stadium of Light" naming? apparently specifically chosen to allow the addition of a sponsors brand and it hasn't happened yet. i recall a few people were annoyed over the crest too. it's already been said; clubs evolve, but this kind of thing should go to the fans vote like we did with our nick name or the third strip vote shortly after the switch to SoL. yes it's about increasing the club profile but fans are the lifeblood and a vote would prove whether they were on board or not. we already have nicknames, it's just bringing it to the fore, so wouldn't be surprised to see some fans actually going for it. seriously, f**k coventry. screwed us twice with late kickoffs on the last day of the season, gordon bloody strachan and richard cocknose keys.
There's plenty of innocent fans at that club who doesn't deserve discrimination on the situation, regardless of how I feel about the club itself and all those vile people who were involved in screwing us over. I never forget the fans come first.
I still hate the name of our ground..It should have been called Wearmouth Stadium after the colliery it was built on..

This will put paid to the old quiz question: which is the only league club whose name does not include any letters (small or capitals) that you can "fill in"?
Thanks for the support guys. It is really good to see support from other clubs on this, (apart from the odd inevitable troll and WUM). After all we're all football fans passionately supporting our clubs and tradition and have more in common than any differences. All I can hope is our owners see the fans' reaction, realise their error and reverse this decision - they've been fantastic for us up until this ridiculous rename. Otherwise I feel this could open the floodgates and you lot could well end up as the Sunderland Black Cats, (although the suggested name for Newcastle of "Newcastle Looney Toons" did crack me up somewhat).
The Hull owner hasn't said it but I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that they share their ground with Superleague rugby team 'Hull FC' - (there's also 'Hull Kingston Rovers' in the Superleague) maybe he wants to make a distinction between the 2 rugby teams? Anyways, the football team will still ALWAYS be called 'Hull' by the fans and the media so I don't think it matters too much
