well i've had a few mates who are fans of different football clubs take the piss on my facebook wall in regards to the name change. namely this
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham 47s #hcafc release a statement on the re-branding issue. "As has always been the case supporters remain free to refer to the club as they wish." Feel free to merge with the main thread about the change. They're just annoying me now, maybe they should ask us all before rebranding the club to gain public bloody opinion?! http://www.hullcityafc.net/news/article/201314-club-statement-981226.aspx This is the official statement.
The club have released a statement: In response to comments made following a recent interview, the Club would like to clarify its formal identity. The business name at Companies House had its ‘Association Football Club’ suffix removed in the spring of this year, leaving the club to be named ‘Hull City Tigers Ltd’. This will now be used in official club statements, regarding any of our commercial operations. The Tigers brand, with its powerful imagery, will be used in international markets to attract new interest and attention in both Hull and the East Riding from a worldwide audience. As has always been the case, supporters remain free to refer to the club as they wish, whether that be Hull City, City, Tigers, Black and Amber, or indeed any other variant of the Club’s name. For many, the Club will continue to be known as Hull City, as it has been from its inception. A new badge, to be used from the 2014/15 season, will be designed and created in consultation with fans over the coming months. A new badge? Oh **** off!
It's not so much about how many will be attending, it's about the nature of the atmosphere and chants around the ground. Dawson's testimonial should be about celebrating his career and chanting about him, not protesting over a name change and chanting anti name change chants. Unfortunately due to the terrible timing of the announcement, I expect there will be some who will choose to voice their concerns tomorrow during the testimonial.
Jesus wept. They're giving us permission to call it what we want! A new badge can **** right off. I wonder what Clapper will say next. "It was never about the name or the badge, we're still playing in Hull..."
How come they can consult with the fans over the new badge but not the Club's name, both important surely?
So if we're all being consulted on the badge for next year onwards, that could still mean we have the "AFC" in it? Or am I reading into this the wrong way.
I dont mind a badge change to be honest, weve had many over time and im sure the current 1 can be improved upon if we are allowed a say on it. Im more concerned about what our name will be in the the media , what sky will call us, what we will be called on fifa etc
I just like how generous of the Allams to allow us to call the club whatever we wish. That's so nice of them.
Andy Bradley ‏@andybradley46 25m @bbcburnsy collect 6 Frosties tokens and get your Hull Tigers season pass!!! pic.twitter.com/y56uImzZlh Throughout this ****e, this has officially made my day. Along with Burnsy's tongue in cheek David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy 1m This name-changing thing could catch on? Hudgell Kingston Robins?
They've changed the name. Next they'll change the badge. Then they'll move us out of Hull. And so Hull City is completely dismantled. The club is dying.
I've seen a fair few posters complaining about the tiger on the badge, suggesting changes to it. I'm almost certain that sky will still call us Hull City (for this season at least), and the media will continue to call us Hull.
