Funny how weegies think they're the friendliest people in the world yet the rest of the world disagrees.

Whoever compiled that list clearly hasn't actually been to Dublin or Cork then.............. In Cork if you're not actually from the county you may as well throw yourself in the river.

    46,000 people can't be wrong: http://edition.cnn.com/2013/08/07/travel/unfriendly-cities/index.html

Don't worry, I head Watford just missed out in 21st place.

    Try again.

Watford wouldn't get anywhere near deservedly so. And of course 46,000 people can be wrong - they get 50000 plus at St James park every week for starters..

Regardless - Cork? Most of them act as though they're a superior life form to everyone else - Roy keane comes from there FFS - and my dad <doh>.

It kind of explains why Newark ranks worse than Moscow, Islamabad and Bethlehem <laugh>

Last time I was in Cork I was a kid and I can't remember what the people were like, other than my dad lost his wallet and someone posted it to him. Dublin is definitely one of the most friendly cities I've visited though, it's a world apart from Belfast - if you stop someone in the street to ask them a question they fall over themselves to help you.

If Irish cities really are as friendly as the survey suggests it will be because, apart form hash, all the ne'erdowells were rounded up and sent abroad.

Hmmm, I like London but I wouldn't rank it for friendliness - I'd rate the likes of Brighton much higher. Not sure if I can properly define the term friendliness either, in my head it's where you are made to feel at ease with people.

I've been to Cork a few times, highlight of the trip was the village called Ringaskiddy and meeting Hash and his brood at the dodgems.

Damn right, it's like the San Francisco of England. Say what you want about the gays, but they're very friendly people :bandit:

I'd agree with all of that. London's good in that you get left alone and nobody really wants to know your business - it's hit and miss as to how helpful people are but then that's the same in any major city. Intersting that apart from Moscow European cities aren't in the top 20 on either list.
