I have always supported the Allams 100%. I will carry on calling the team I have supported for 48 years HULL CITY as I always have done. No singing or chanting the words Hull City Tigers or Hull Tigers from me . I won't buy one thing with Hull Tigers on. In my opinion the Allams have made this one big mistake . BUT to me they are still the greatest owners the club has ever had and if it wasn't for the Allams we would not have a team to support .
And you clearly haven put 2 and 2 together. He's publicly said he'd prefer it if we dropped the City part so this is clearly a staged rebrand. Otherwise why would he say that? His plan is that in 12 months we'll be called Hull Tigers.
It wasn't ironic when it first started, it was dead serious and it made us look like a bunch of ****ers. We just say it was ironic to cover our asses. We might do it now ironically, but back then it was generally just fifty shades of gay.
We ARE Hull Tigers, make no mistake about it. What worries me is that there will be thousands of other lemmings like yourself who are willing to just roll over and get your belly tickled by the Allams (who, again, I've had the upmost respect for up to now).
Cardiff was considering changing their name to Cardiff City Dragons until a fan brought the rights to the name http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/cardiff-city-fan-pays-1299-2493895 Maybe some hope for you lot?
Bollocks. The chant was serious but when we put in the actions they were ALWAYS ironic. I dont understand how anyone cant see that.
Beyond any shadow of doubt, it most definitely was ironic from the very start, and was only one in a number of very camp songs, such as the "ooh you're hard" with wrist action and "Tigers rah rah rah". And it ARSES not asses.
It goes without saying that this is disgraceful, selfish and naive on Allams part. My only concern is if the backlash from fans pisses him off and he has one of his petulant little tantrums. We've already seen him act like a spoilt brat when things didn't go his way with the council, then again with the various issues with Hull FC. I'm sure he'll have he attitude of 'how dare these people criticise me after all I've done...etc' He doesn't seem the sort of person to back down, even if he knows he should.
Maybe we should start an Online Petition and start posting it around the forums and emailing it to friends/family etc.. It might make the Allams a little to think about...
Not wanting to start a them and us, but if my opinion that it's more a snub to the Council than it is a business decision has any substance, your other concern should be what happens to Hull FC and Adam Pearson. Pure speculation and it could be bollocks because it's based on nothing, but here goes. Annoyed at the slights by Gerraghty over the KC issue etc and by Adam Pearson over a few things, if he let it be thought this one step on a move to being just Tigers, or even Yorkshire Tigers as a precursor to a move out of the Stadium, that would put pressure on the Council as it would effectively mean the end of Hull FC leaving a huge white elephant in West Park.
Just heard about this and think that it's great that your honouring our Rugby team please log in to view this image Leicester, home of the original tigers
I can't wait for them to get dogs abuse and **** off back to their civil war. Players, managers and owners come and go but clubs.... Oh wait clubs get ****ed about too. I don't have a club to support anymore...
I would honestly rather be in a Bradford/Portsmouth situation where our club had been put into administration, relegated season after season after our horrific ownership under Duffman/Bartlett than have our heritage deleted and be heralded as irrelevant. Supposed fickle international brand recognition is going to come at the cost of loyal local support. What a disgrace. What a shame. What a monster modern football has become. German football anyone?
I am sure this name change is because of the Council issues What irritates me most is that we will now shy away from 'tigers' because we love it as a nickname but the majority will hate it as part of our actual name They've dropped City and made the 'tigers' part massively irritating They haven't thought it through - I think it will change back to Hull City (dropping the AFC) and we'll have our nickname The Tigers back - at least I ****ing hope so....
