I believe the 'Football Club' would also be dropped, so it's simply Hull Tigers.

Then we'd be like our city brothers in Ice Hockey, Hull Stingrays.

And we'd hark back to the glory days when RL outfit Hull FC used to be Hull Sharks.

    All the good stuff.

Have a look at this - Egyptian club names:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_clubs_in_Egypt

How many 'al' and 'el' can you see? Common?

My guess is the HULL bit will go next, and it's driven by a reaction to Gerraghty's twist on the Stadium issue, so links to the City of Hull are reduced to the bare minimum.

Aha finally something official. We're not changing our colours. Thank god, that was my only concern.

Same team. Same colours. Same Tiger graphic. Same stadium (sadly). We're still Hull. Majority of in city fans will call us Hull City. Most people outside of Hull won't give a ****, let alone find it funny (notwithstanding the obvious trolls on these forums trying and no doubt succeeding to get a reaction).

It's a shame the people who kick up a huge fuss about this don't put the same effort into local politics, even just voting, so the local political landscape changed.

Yes, I'm really "meh, whatever" about this name change.

What I dont understand is why this is going to help us reach out to international fans. Does he think a bunch of Americans (as an example) are going to support us simply because he changes a name? Like if he wanted Americans to follow the club he should have just bought Altidore and Dempsey. I dont get it.

That's because you're looking at it as a business decision. My view it's a revenge/honour thing.

The lies and deceit are still the more worrying issue. What else have we been lied to about?

    Thought you would be.

What do you think about Mr Allam describing Hull City as "irrelevant"?

Indeed. It's ironic that it comes at a time when Manchester United, perhaps the biggest commercial football club of them all, are looking at going in the opposite direction by re-introducing 'Football Club' onto their badge.

Meh. People are going to read in to elements in a way that suits them, as I have. People will scream and shout about this on forums. There will be the same usual (minority) singing their songs at games. We will move on, the club will continue moving forwards hopefully.

Just discussed this with a Swansea fan in the office and he said "They're not changing the entire badge and colours then? What's the fuss? You'll still be called Hull? I wish that is all that had happened to us."

I know which way this thread will go now so tbh, gonna avoid it, I've no desire to be a focal point for some of the hysterical on here.

What do people from Hull call us? City.
    Will that change? No.

What do people outside Hull call us? Hull.
    Will that change? Maybe.
Is that bad? I don't think so, most people are not keen on just "Hull". Also, I imagine "Tigers" is certainly more appealing to foreign markets.

That being said, the way that Allam has done this is very cynical. Revealing this just before a Premier League season - very, very few people are going to protest in a meaningful way (i.e. stop going to games), I also fear that it could have a negative effect on the Dawson testimonial. Not only that, but the way he actually explained his decision and the name of the club was pretty insensitive.

I'm not necessarily FOR the change, but I can see the advantages. I don't really see what would change for me, as a fan. Allam needs to deal with the whole thing far better though.

I'm with Dutch on this - I think it's a revenge thing. Geraghty and the Council have pissed Allam off and he's doing this in spite.

The rest is 'spin' - as have been all NT's pronouncements on the matter.

It's not so much the name change, it's all the lying that is hard to accept. The way they have gone about this is wrong and the fans deserve more respect. In cases like his the club should respect the wishes of the community it serves. Also, it is pretty naive to think a simple name change can make us become more appealing to foreign fans. Like with the Egyptian lads, it only takes a few signings from that country to increase support in that country.

So you'd be the only club in England without the 'Football Club' tag? <laugh>

I'm not going. Allam can go take his silly rich fat arse and **** it all the way to Brighton.

I suggest turning up en masse to Norwich, having a huge riot, and not turning up to another game. He'll soon have no choice but to make a u-turn.

He can have his premier league adventure on his own the fat twat, ill wait for the club to return to the fans.

From a pure marketing point of view, it is important to separate your brand identity from the opposition.

Assem Allam has stated that the fans can call the team what they want but, he has missed the point.

    We are Hull City.

Well Clubs with that tag are ten a penny. :emoticon-0111-blush

There's no decent come back to being lied to and then suffering such a ****e justification when the truth inevitably came out. We'd be all over your board like a rash if the roles were reversed.
