ROAR. The article i've just read says that the reason for it is 'because Hull City Football Club' is too long
Depressing day. Lying ****s at Hull City. I feel embarrassed. What a terrible way to start what should be a joyous new season in the top flight. RIP Hull City AFC
Well, this has been coming hasn't it. It's annoying that we were told one thing and another happened, but the eagle eyed among us saw the signs a long time ago. You can't really act shocked and disgusted because it was obviously going to happen; I maintain the same level of anger and sadness. It just feels really strange. Of all the things to change, it had to be the name. The most important question in the world, "Who do you support?" will now be followed up with "Hull City"...... "Don't you mean Hull Tigers?! Hahahahhaha" - *Sigh*....
Yes it does, it also says the owners would prefer it to be just Hull Tigers. Now if they just want, to shorten the name then Hull City is shorter than Hull Tigers. That's why I wonder if there is more to this decision. Whatever the reason the team will remain Hull City to all of us traditionalists and the fact that we have a team to support, whatever it is called by the owners, is something we should be grateful to the Allams for. Note to the owners; Please do not drop Hull City from our name however you wish to rebrand the club.
Nail on head. I'll never say Hull Tigers, so will be more inclined to say Hull and this then equates to me being an egg-chasing fan. Today I ****ing hate the Allams for this. On the plus side, it's an easy PR win to change it back for whoever does take over the club next. Or indeed for the Allams, if they turnaround in 2 weeks time, say we listened to the fans and despite our own thoughts we're sticking with Hull City AFC. All of a sudden they're heroes again, it'd be like Heinz with Salad Cream.
This will be hilarious to other club's fans. Until it happens to them too. I've been disillusioned with football for a long time, but where else do you go?
I just had a thought - he said a reason to change the name was cos "City is used by other teams like Bristol and Leicester". Well Tigers is used by Leicester as well, and Castleford. He's talking out of his ****ing arse.
I just don't understand the logic.... The Allam's were gods in most fans eyes for what the have done, now they go and pretty much commit suicide by renaming the club because 'Hull City AFC' is 'too long'. Baffling.
The Hull CITY Tigers is just an appeasement probably requested (or begged) by NT as a halfway house until they drop the City altogether and just go with Hull Tigers. I would suggest that AA would have gone straight for Hull Tigers had he not been advised. City = Common?!?!?!?! Makes him sound a bit naive and small time.
What a load of ****. I'll never call us Hull Tigers and I daresay I won't be the only one. Where's Happy Clapper?
The word that sticks in the throat is "irrelevant". Maybe it is irrelevant to the Allams, but not to everybody else. Insulting choice of words.
**** this bollocks. How many times did they say they were not changing it and now this? Lying ****ers. There MUST be some sort of show at Chelsea. I agree with BCC - maybe a 90 minute chant of CITY or some such.
How the **** do you go about protesting this? Realistically nobody's going to stop going. Everybody sang "city" related sings anyway, so that wouldn't seem anything major. I'm at a loss guys.
