HDMsport ‏@HDMsport 3m Exclusive: Owners Assem and Ehab Allam confirm plan to rebrand #hcafc 'Hull City Tigers' and drop the 'AFC' completely I ****ing knew this was coming
So where does this leave Nick Thompson? If this is true then he has categorically been proven to LIE to the media and fans of the club. I see this as making his role untenable. Edit - and shouldnt this thread have a better subject header? I mean come on, give people a clue as to what it's about.
Just flag it up and ask a mod to change it to something more clear - HDM exclusive confirms Hull Tigers name change perhaps?
Sign In or Sign Up . .. Allam exclusive: We WILL be called Hull City Tigers . By Hull Daily Mail. Friday, August 09, 2013. . Follow By Paul Baxter, sports editor HULL City Tigers will be the new name officially adopted by the club in the Premier League. Owners Assem and Ehab Allam have confirmed their intention to re-brand Hull City by dropping the 'AFC' and putting the emphasis on 'Tigers'. Hull Tigers 'It is about identity': Hull City owner Assem Allam and the 'Hull City Tigers' badge. . They said one of the reasons for the change is to give the club a stronger "brand identity" on the international stage. In an exclusive interview with the Mail, Assem Allam also admitted he would personally prefer the club to be known simply as 'Hull Tigers'. "Hull City is irrelevant," he said. "My dislike for the work 'City' is because it is common. "City is also associated with Leicester, Bristol, Manchester and many other clubs. "In the commercial world, the shorter the name, the better. The more it can spread quickly. "It is about identity. City is a lousy identity. Hull City Association Football Club is so long." The confirmation comes after weeks of speculation following increased club use of an amended badge without 'AFC' on the logo.
It gets worse, the mentalist has now confirmd he wants to drop City completely and just be Hull Tigers. His rationale? "Lots of other teams have City in their name such as Leicester and Bristol." Yep, thats why you throw away 109 years of history. I'd love to see CITY fans sing CITY, CITY and no other song for the 90 minutes on tv against Chelsea. We have the perfect platform to make our feelings know to the watching world, lets take it.
Can't muster up any anger towards nick Thompson over this to be fair, he'll have been told what to say. Allams in danger of undoing all their excellent work to date with one silly and poorly-advised decision.
The attitude of its my club and I will do what I want and **** what the fans think. Don't buy anything that has hull tigers on it .
Yesterday we had a thread about the Anzhi owner pulling the plug on massive spending. This is worse than ANYTHING any other mega rich owner has done with his play thing.
I dont own a season ticket. I havent had one for 20 years. I dont even pay to get in to matches. Put that in your pompousity pipe and smoke it.
I wonder if the underlying reason for the change is really that the Allams want to move further away from Hull City Council since their spat over buying the stadium. Whatever the reason it as a lamentable decision.
Umm.. no its not. I'd rate the Anzhi guy selling all his squad as a wee bit worse. Or Lloyd. Or Hinchcliffe and Buchanan.. etc. Having said that, Hull Tigers sounds cheap and american. Hull City Tigers while slightly better just sounds daft. I didn't even like Hull City FC that some of the misguided used but this is just ridiculous. Time may make them sound better but I'm not sure. Neither of the new names sound as professional as Hull City AFC.
