  2. Fair enough if that's how you see it, its all about opinions afterall. However, not many people (myself included) see Arsenal as being at the same level as Man Utd, Man City or Chelsea. Plus, IMO, if you don't make some signings, we will both being trying to finish above Spurs!

There are very few Liverpool fans that think fourth will be a walk in the park, far from it. Most of us know it will be very difficult but just want to see a challenge (in with a shout with three or four games to go). I have however said that I'd take sixth so long as there is a improvement on points, not so much in terms of points gained (I don't think this is a clear gauge as each season can be very different) but the difference between ourselves and fourth.

Believe it or not, I'd love one of those three I highlighted to drop out the top four and both our sides finish in the CL spots. hell, I'd even let you guys have third and us fourth at the minute! <laugh>

As you say, your own objective is to make top 4, however I think it's a season too soon for you, top 6 should represent improvement but I can't say with any certainty where you will finish as I know nothing about the squad/1st team. Our own squad has been severely depleted by outgoing players (almost 30 off the books and we have only 17 1st team/squad members available at this minute). If it came down to it, I would have us both in the CL spots over Chelsea, or Spurs. I think Manchester City and Manchester United are too hard to catch but I think we can finish third IF we strengthen the squad/team with the resources we have available and which we are not doing at this current point in time.

  7. I have already said a few times this summer that if Wenger actually spent some money on a keeper, CB, DM and striker then you could challenge for the title. I think you've missed a trick with Migs but then, I wanted us to go for Bergovic as I think he is a better keeper. Out of those four positions, I actually think the striker is the least important too.

Pot smoking Yankee Liverpool owner is saying that Suarez won't be sold at any price this summer

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23627573

A final desperate bid to get the player to hand in a transfer request and waive his bonuses ?

I'm beginning to wonder if we should just walk away from this debacle that Liverpool are creating. They are going to be left with a player who doesn't want to play for them, and may well go on strike. If that's the case he would in breach of his contract and may have it terminated by the club. If we wait 6 months we might pick him up on a free. <ok>

  9. Why would that be the case when Suarez has told both the Telegraph and Guardian that he'll hand in a transfer request if he has too? (undermining his claim of a release clause in the process)

No offence intended but the last paragraph you wrote is just ridiculous <ok>

Keeper is a minor issue compared to the midfield. Lacks steel. There was talk about Gustavo, Gundogan but I can't see those happening. We now need to replace more than ever, the squad members we have lost in various positions. Can't think what they've got planned but you can be sure that Suarez is not the only option. That's why I think keeping Suarez is a risky option if Arsenal do decide to pull out. I don't know him well enough to know what he would do to your club if kept against his wishes and I am not sure your owner does either if I'm honest.

Because he'd only have to hand in a transfer request if the club said they weren't going to sell him

One thing Liverpool need to understand is that no matter how much they scream and shout, they're just not our rivals, or challengers for the 4th spot. You don't finish 7th with a piss poor squad, and all of a sudden turn into challengers for 4th just because they say so.
But hey, we get this talk from them every year. We got that last year. Turned out excellently for them. <laugh>

Gawd, what a pathetic mess this Suarez business has turned out to be for Liverpool. I can't imagine what Rodgers and John 'the Inferior' Henry hope to get out of Suarez this season should they retain him. They are as well to cut their losses, though I can understand how much it rankles having your (allegedly) best player wanting to leave, especially if the only realistic destination is a league rival.

I for one cannot wait until this grim fandango is over and done with.

Only problem with that would be the fact that other clubs would also be more than willing to take him on a free. It's not like we can trust Suarez to reject other clubs and join us if he became a free agent.

If our squad is so poor, why do you want to buy any of it?

This is sadly what you get when you deal with these types of people. You have to try and make the best of a bad situation. A total shambles from top to toe.

  18. And you need to understand the difference between being equals and aiming for the same outcome. Not one Liverpool fan is claiming that we have a equally good a squad as Arsenal, the rival comment comes from us aiming for the same position as Arsenal aspire to...fourth! Selling our best player to another team that has the same target makes zero sense!

No, they said that they wanted to keep him but that Arsenal hadn't met their valuation of him, not that they wouldn't sell him.

Now we're getting to the sharp end of the window and we haven't come back with a fifty million plus offer, they are trying to force his hand by saying they won't sell him.

Personally, I'm wondering if we should just walk away and leave you with a player who doesn't want to be there.

  20. Yet, its a mirror image to last summer saga involving RvP. Only difference is, Liverpool have more power in the situation than Arsenal did because of the length of contracts involved <doh>
