I believe Almunia has a British passport? I could be wrong. As for injured players sitting on the bench - does that not mean we have a weakened bench? Of course it does; not that it will ever happen. My point though was to accomodate 6 'Home Grown' players in the squad may well weaken our match day squads and leave accomplished overseas players sitting in the stand.
Almunia may have a British passport, but the home grown states they have had to have been in an English (or Welsh) academy for 3 years under the age of 21. So Cesc Fabregas would have counted as 'home grown' because he signed for Arsenal at 16, but Almunia wouldn't.
I am not an employment lawyer, but I wonder how this relates to european employment regulations. Could restricting 6 places in the matchday squad to primarily british citizens, be seen as not making those jobs available to all european citizens, and therefore in breach of employment law. So would it be an enforceable regulation?
I think Nos was at Gillingham as a youngster, and was there for a few years. If I'm right, that would mean he qualifies.
He was, and, apart from that, he was born in London - although under these ridiculous rules country of birth doesn't appear to matter anymore.
U 15 Milk Cup 3rd place play-off Watford 6 Liverpool 2 Well done after losing on Penalties yesterday. Shame we only appear to have put one team in this year. We usually enter each age catagory I believe.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/p...nger-is-not-your-everyday-player-8744499.html Great interview..... what an interesting guy....
Looks as if things have been going on in the back office. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ring_adding_an_indoor_pitch_at_London_Colney/ Which will come first? The indoor pitch or the East Stand?
So we are home to AFC Bournemouth in the league cup later this month. Thats two games in a month against the same team.
If you read several complacent gits on the 'predictions' re this Saturday. this will be the 2nd game Watford neednt bother to even turn up to win. You know little Bournemouth, the team with no form for over a season who'll come with no confidence and be in awe of the home teams 'Stars'. Surely two 8-0 home wins
I guess we will put a different team for each..... Put your predicting where your mouth is then Old nick...... or.... if you don't predict don't comment Let's see you predicting eh
Gits?? Really...? There's nothing wrong in believing your team will beat a team who has just been promoted. Or maybe we should all predict losses to satisfy your negativity.... or you could just have a go yourself? I assume you will be predicitng losses for Watford every game?
Jonathon Bond called up for England U21s next week. It would be against Scotland - am now torn... http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10600674.Bond_called_up_to_England_Under_21s_squad/
Clearly he doesn't want to feature in many world cups or he would have chosen to represent Spain or the USA.
Irrelevant whether one predicts or not,but if I did hope I'd show a little more respect for decent clubs like Bournemouth.Silly remark if you dont mind me saying so Kev. may well be a home win on Sat...sure they'll win more than they lose this season..good to see you've got some fire in you Mr Yorks !
Better to be an old git than an old nick anyway. High win predictions for the orns are not necessarily a lack of respect much more a sense of hope over reality and if taken that seriously how sad...
