Deserved, but it shouldn't have taken a shedload of injuries, before a meaningless friendly for it to happen. I just hope he doesn't get injured.
Very happy for Rickie, he deserves acclaim more than any other player I can think of. Still think playing for England is a waste of time though. Won't make him a better player & I doubt he'll get more than a subs role at best.
He deserves this chance to prove himself. He's scored goals at every level why not for England as well? I know this may not be a long term thing but in the here and now he proved last season he was one of the most consistent scorers in the league and hopefully he can prove he can do a job for England in the run up to Brazil. However i fear this may be his only chance as i doubt if he doesn't impress this time round he will be given another chance when the likes of Rooney (although named) , Sturridge and Defoe (also injury doubt) etc are fit again due mainly to how Hodgeson seems to be wanting younger players in and around the international squad and not seasoned pro's.
Luke Shaw in U21 squad (until he pulls out through injury) No Clyne though. Has he gone over the age limit now? or is his injury worse than Saints are saying?
I just hope he gets some game time, would be nice for him to have at least a cap to his name when he hangs up his boots
