Yep, it's four years ago something fairly radical happened to our beloved football club. You could possibly call it revolution, rather than evolution, as four years is no time at all in football Roll on the next four, if they're as eventful and productive as the last four have been please log in to view this image
Indeed it is 4 years since that fateful/grateful day - the only time I've left a match early (half time!!) HOW much has happened since then and roll on the next 4 years????
A defining day in the club's history that was, and I wonder how many of us thought that just four years later we'd be about to embark on our third season in the Premiership with the wealth of talent we now have at our disposal? It is a quite extraordinary take of rags to riches, they should make a film about us
amazing really that it was only four years ago. so much has happened in the intervening period! the four years preceding it were four of the most boring years i can recall. the funny thing was, when i was walking down to the ground with a friend we both chatted about potential bets for the match and the scoreline '7-1' was mooted by both of us... ok, it was in our favour, and we never put the bet on in the end but had we done so, i wonder if that would have been the worst bet of all time?
From lowest ebb to highest peak Just two short years it took, Then two more, so that as we speak Those times are well forsook, But rather look forward than back And let others descend, Ambition isn´t what we lack So that will help no end.
I remember walking to the ground with my cousin and we were both chatting about what we thought the score would be - he said 4-0 and I said 3-1 saying "we'll let one in - we always do". Got that a bit wrong (x 7).
Happy anniversary canaries everywhere and thanks to Col U - be good if Col who mike could join into this thread
Would have been nice if we could have got Col U in the cup draw today - but they got spanked by Posh!
Right under the G in recruiting is where my season ticket seat is against the back wall, but luckily for me the missus had booked tickets to see Walking with the dinosaurs with the kids so I was in London on that great day for the club. (I didn't think it was good that I was stuck in London at the time until I looked at the results when I got home)
What I did find amusing was a tweet from wonky complaining about CUFC fans bragging about the result! Little Colchester attending FCR and overturning the "Champions elect" by 7 goals to 1, I reckon they had every right to brag!
